I have been using ReiserFS with SuSE for a while but one thing that always bothered me is that lilo can't boot the kernel off a partition with ReiserFS so I always need at least one ext2 partition just for this purpose. I heard LILO was starting to support Reiser, anyone know for sure?
How is that flamebait? WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU WANT GNOME IN WINDOWS?!?!?! like "hmm I think I'll use GNOME over the GUI it's trying to be in the first place" yeah thats makes sooo much sense
This makes no sense to me besides the "cool look what we did" factor.
That's odd. I've been using a nightly build from last week in Linux and when I went to a page with java (I went to www.anfyteam.com b/c it has a lot of java applets on it and is good for testing) and Mozilla simply told me java wasn't installed and offered to take me to the page where I can get it. I then went to the site and a little installer popped up (I think its that xpinstall thing) and badabing bababoom I had java.
umm, doesnt it make more sense to call the Voodoo3 that Banshee 2. Banshee came out first so I dont really understand how you can think of it as a cut down Voodoo3. But that's just semantics I suppose...
The differences between UNIXalikes are not worth quibbling about. From a user perspective and a programmer perspective, they are just
about the same beast. It's like arguing about the radical differences between driving Ford Explorer and a Chevy Blazer (hint: there are
none).
I was waiting for someone to say that! For the most UNIX is UNIX. I'm a Linux user but I'm happy that Mac OS X will help BSD because it will be helping UNIX in general. A lot of people only see UNIX as a server OS and I think that if Apple can help improve the reputation of UNIX on the desktop then it can only help Linux.
When you know what you want to change it makes more sense to go straight to it using vi(m) rather then clunking through a bunch of menus. I can easily search for the line I want and jump all over the place using vim.
Ghost is the Shell is a thousand times better than Akira. Akira must be one of the most over-rated anime films ever. It was ahead of it's time and all but other than that it's not particularly interesting. If you want a good laugh watch the dubbed version and have fun listening to all the name screaming. Kanedaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- AOL has a history of advertising itself by putting itself everywhere you look - your tv, your mailbox, your email, your toilet, etc...
I would love AOL toilet paper. Imagine wiping your ass on that stupid running AIM guy.
damnit I downloaded and installed it around 8am EST but I didnt submit it to/. cus I figured it would have been there already. oh well, no problems in 15 minutes of use WOOHOO!!!
I could really see it being an overheated cpu. I remember a few years back reading an article about the mobile K6 series was sometimes a problem because they ran very hot and not only were there cpu problems but the heat affected other, nearby, components. Don't know if this applies to the K6-2 but it's a thought.
I've run SuSE 6.X on a K6-III 450 for well over a year now with no instability problems I can think of. Don't even get me started about Red Hat. But anyway to each his own. If you're happy with Red Hat stick with it. I'm pretty sure however that those red hat users that are blasting SuSE had problems with it because it's not as dumbed down (although it seems headed that way).
At my university, University at Buffalo, all students get 15mb of space (which they like to call UBFS or UB File System or something) that can be easily accessed from any workstation. When you log into an NT workstation the space is mapped to your S: drive. In UNIX you can just cd to $UBFSHOME and get there as well. I know he said the have space on several servers but perhaps they should set it up in a similar way, having it set as a networked drive on NT so the average PC user will have no problem.
I got a shell from www.shellyeah.org and it has been reliable the year I've had it. It's free but there is also a pay version that gives you more than just email, news and BitchX.
what about Star Trek: Armada? Wasn't that proclaimed as the first Trek game that didnt suck? The AI was a little disappointing but is anything more fun than being the Borg and assimilating Star Fleet ships? hehe
The reason AMD has decided to do things this way is so that 32bits can still run at normal speed while with Intel's chip 32bit apps will run like ass (fear my scientific terms).
Some guys from Canada tried to buy a G4 from my school computer store (University at Buffalo) but they were denied because the G4 is considered a super computer and could not be exported. Perhaps the people at the store were mistaken but it is still interesting.
I think it was Jump Joe. I remember my mother found a secret level in that game. I actually still have the old 5.25 floppy of it somewhere but I don 't have a drive to read it.
The nerve of these guys! Getting paid for work?! Who do they think they are?!
It was called "Genesis" because it was the first true 16bit video game console.
It would be a damn shame, maybe some of their GUI tools could be made part of Debian.
hmm if the movie is about opensource maybe its ok for me to sell bootleg tapes of it...
sweet, never heard of GRUB but I like what I'm hearing so far. I will definately check it out

it does not support java
umm yeah it does dude
It's not free as opposed to the alternative
uhh isnt what the article is about? It's free now! IE and Netscape try to force u into their respective portals and adversitements anyway.

Hell yeah. That movie sucked. Who gives a shit if it's gonna be on DVD? Big fucking deal.
