Read Contact (Carl Sagan) and see Contact and tell me if it's a coincidence it was filmed AFTER Sagan's death. What the book is (multiracial, "worldcentric", close to the atheism, ...) was gonne in the film (US-centric, uniracial, putting God in between, ...). I think this is the proof those who think there's a Heaven/Hell are wrong. If they were right Carl Sagan would have rised up from the grave and kicked the people that destroyed his book.

And this is the real reason of this extremely long time until something goes public domain. To made something with the work of an artist that s/he hadn't done or even s/he was against doing ("War of the worlds"?)

Think about going to a place where there is no power plug (remember: cities don't cover the whole Earth), maybe for a weekend. With 4-8 hours each pair, taking 8 batteries lasts until you come back home. And more important: what if you have your console running well in 2015? If it uses AA batteries you can buy other pack and play. If it runs with a propietary battery you are out of luck.

I prefer a DC, with less games, but better "good games ratio", than a PS2 (or PSX) with lots of games, but lots of trash too. And I don't say DC has no trash games (I just played 2 times Stunt GP...) but I've played LOTS of PSX games that didn't deserved being rent, even less bought.

And the same goes for the rest of consoles. Sony can say theirs is the best console ever (until their next, of course), just like MS and N can say it too, but the thing that matters are the games and how long you have to wait between good games. Do you want to wait half a year between two good games?

Are you shure "sufficently pure gasoline" doesn't have sulfur, nitrogen, ...? I thought it was one of the problems of fossils.

I know different alcohols have different properties (if not they would be the same, isn't it?). But they all burn and they only generate water+CO2 (am I wrong?).

And about someone drinking it, there are some products that have a VERY bad taste, enought to make (almost) everyone vomit. And if it is methanol and someone drinks it (and doesn't vomits)... "I shot my hand. They are guilty for making the gun"? If the "alcohol dealers" (don't know if they had to be called this) do a GREAT warning campaign it's not their fault if some dumbass drinks it.

But maybe I'm wrong about US laws (I'm European).

It seems everyone is speaking about electric cars, but what about alcohol instead of gas? Less toxic (water+CO2), renewable and (maybe) as cheap as gas or electricity. It doesn't need to be "scotch quality" ;-) just as pure as needed. And it can be any kind of alcohol.

What is unfair is telling "Linux is a piece os sh1t 'cause it has no drivers for [...]" when most Linux drivers are made by someone that is not the manufacturer but someone that has a device and the info to made it. If this info was free and everybody could do the drivers then it would be fair. But if this info is not available AND the manufacturer doesn't make the driver then blaming Linux for not having drivers is unfair.

I hope I've explained good enought (my language is not English).

  14. Re:There is a price for what you want on Is It Wrong to Love Microsoft? · · Score: 4, Insightful

Microsoft DOES NOT make drivers. They come with the devices. If they came with MacOS and Linux drivers this would be fair play, but telling "Linux is worse 'cause it doesn't have drivers" is at least unfair. And where are the XP drivers for obsolete hardware? Well, obsolete if you think this means out of catalog. Many "obsolete" devices are still working, but you can't use them in XP 'cause there are no drivers.

And viruses are not in direct relation to the market share: STs and Amigas had viruses without a near market monopoly. Viruses are just programs that use the flaws of a system. If there are less flaws there are less (posible) viruses.
