This may come as news to you, but it doesn't. It has been proven, several times, that happy animals produce better tasting meat. That includes killing them painlessly. Stressed animals produce "toxins" (not the correct word, but close enough) that taint the meat.
If there's a solution to the Darfur problem the market will find the best one in the least time.
WTF are you talking about? What market? Google is trying to increase awareness and you (and others) say it's a bad thing? What is wrong with you people?
IANAWoWP, so I may be missing some details, but can't they just make a "bots will get you banned" policy? Other MMORPGs seem to have successfully implemented that.
With every new version of Windows Microsoft claims it's "faster"
Why would this have to be false? Code optimisation is quite common, you know. True, MS could be lying considering that they've done so before, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. After all, the Mac OS development team say the same thing about OS X, that each new version is faster than the old one. If it's possible for Apple then it should be possible for MS as well.
And I had a laptop that ran Win XP just fine with only 128 MB RAM. I even used Photoshop and InDesign on it without problems, but Illustrator wouldn't start.
Now take your Mac and start up XCode. Do a C++ compile and notice how long it takes. If the code contains STL stuff then the Mac will choke completely.
My point? RAM usage depends on what you'd like to do.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me this discussion has gone into apples and oranges mode. Threads, as far as I'm aware, are supposed to be used for single, explicit tasks and always under supervision by a parent thread. I've used multi-threading with excellent results, but then I've taken pains to ensure that the threads don't have any privileges whatsoever. Processes, on the other hand, are more like stand-alone programs working in the same context.
You should never try to adapt a generic solution. You should always adapt existing procedures to the solution. If that is not possible then yes, writing your own solution is usually better.
Yep. Half a year ago, the conservatives got majority in Sweden, and now they want to start collecting all e-mails transmitted to search for "terrorists", the same way the US did. It's supposed to be handled by the Swedish military. This is stupid on so many levels, not only because of the notoriously bad results from such systems and the legal issues, but also because: * Our military does not have the budget for this kind of operation, and * they don't have any expertise, unless they buy it from the US.
So at best, this is just a political ploy. Fortunately, everybody else are against this, so there's still hope.
Well, duh. We wouldn't have this problem otherwise. Question is: If we knew for certain that oil resources would run dry in twenty years, would it still be "infeasible"?
It will look for dark matter, the Higgs Boson, and unexpected new physics.
I've had this (crazy) thought that there might be a fifth natural force (or even more) beyond gravity, but it's too weak for us to be able to detect so far.
Has anybody else had this thought? Or is it obvious? Or am I just being moronic?
Don't check your email with Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
Never Use Internet Explorer and instead Switch to Firefox.
I've tried in vain to make people switch to Firefox, Opera and Thunderbird. Not even my geek buddies want to change. They already know of all the flaws in the MS products, but for some strange reason they can't be bothered. I'm trying to make my tech-idiot dad warm up to Opera (my fav) because he's having problems with IE, but it's a very slow process.
And you won't. Unless you are a customer of the industries that will get hit by this tax.
It's called an incentive. Polluting industries will pay extra, which might motivate them to go greener. Of course, they can always charge their customers more, but that tend to make customers look for alternatives.
It's a moot point, since the radiation would kill you. But yes, in the sections where people are allowed, the electro-magnetism does some funky stuff to TV-screens (but those are different electro-magnets). That was the case in -99 at least.

Possible, yes. Likely? Hmm.

Yep, they're gonna dig up the dirt on this one. (Sorry, force of habit.)
Yep, best alarm clock there is; children. But only on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
So he's not a fascist, he's a sociopath. Big diff.

No, but neither is "nigger". It's a word describing people, the meaning of the word being whatever we (society) want it to be.
Now replace "hooker" with "nigger". Still laughing?
Yes! I thought it was hilarious how the setting could have been a rip-off. I kept watching out for a Guybrush cameo or a three-headed monkey!
And, from the summary:
Well, duh. We wouldn't have this problem otherwise. Question is: If we knew for certain that oil resources would run dry in twenty years, would it still be "infeasible"?
Problem is, { malice == good business decision } seems to be true a little too often.

And? AVG has almost daily updates too. It's a Good Thing.
I got stuck at this word in TFA. Isn't the purpose of long-term storage to be as bio-UNdegradable as possible?
Apparently, he doesn't own a mattress in which to put his money. I guess he had to go for second best.
