They are hiring Linux sysadmins for the Maynard, MA (headquarters) office. I interviewed there a few weeks ago for said position(s). They are primarily a Windows (IIS) shop and mainly use Linux for Oracle. As of yesterday, I was still seeing a listing in my Monster job agent results for this Linux admin position. Hmmm.
Are they joking? I'm a unix/linux guy and when I go job hunting "sys admin" and "network admin" mean
WINDOWS. This reporter and his editor are not living on the same planet as me. There are 20 Windows LAN/Desktop/sysadmin jobs for every ONE *nix job. Sheesh. All they had to do is look at craigslist.
" . . . the legal department will probably have a fit, and the whole plan will fall in its ass in a hurry."
And your employer will find some other (bullshit) reason to "let you go."
Dell threatens to offer Linux pre-installed about every other month and there's a knee jerk reaction here at Slashdot every time. Bah. It will be news if Dell SHIPS a laptop with Linux pre-installed. Until that day, Slashdot stories on this subject do nothing but serve Dell's marketing division.
I like Intel for network chipsets and when I wanted to build a Solaris 10 x86 machine I chose the venerable Tualatin dual P3 for the platform mostly because of low price and low power consumption.
For desktops and 64 bit computing it's AMD all the way.
How are you able to spell cholesterol but can't spell "steak" or "lettuce?" Wow.

Imminent most commonly means,
"Threatening to occur immediately; near at hand; impending;
-- said especially of misfortune or peril."
I can't help thinking, "wow. that would be a nightmare to support remotely!"
espresso, not expresso.

> Sitefinder is EVIL. While this is just fine. The above does not scan. WHAT is just fine?
Can you say, "Ice Nine?"
They'll just eat the seeds.

Is it not every month I see this same story recycled? Or is that the story where Dell is offering Linux installed as an option for its desktops?
Do you know how to use punctuation?
Your sig should read, ... where are my shoes."
Shoes is plural.
