There were several regions developing written language around that time (within a few hundred years of one another). It's possible that they all descended from Sumerian writing (since it's the oldest that's been found, and the other regions aren't too far away, Egypt and India) but obviously no one knows for sure, we just know what we've found. There is some evidence for even older scripts in Africa but not enough artifacts have survived to say what's a symbol and what's a decoration.
Yes, it does. Dreyer's text was dated between 3200 and 3300BC, Mesopotamian writing came several hundred years earlier and was based on record keeping dating back to 8000BC.

- Replace the strap with a gold chain, install a gold "wall clock" app then rotate the "man purse" holder 90deg towards the front so that it hangs like a necklace. Presto! Suddenly you look like a hip-hop artist.
So you're saying this is why the Nook always had that retarded hole in the corner?
Corporations are people! The supreme court said so. Who are you to say that they cannot ever be evil. They have free speech, they can buy democracy, they can try to sway public opinion.
I assure you that's not what they're buying, in fact it's pretty much the opposite.
In some ways I think they were considerably more advanced. A government controlled by eunuchs? I can think of plenty of government officials who ought to be castrated right off the top of my head.
However, there will be cases that deal with actual state secrets
What exactly isn't a state secret nowadays?
It couldn't be any more ironic that the when the state secrets act was originally recognized by the court (United States v. Reynolds - 1953) it was based on a lie. There was nothing mission related in the accident report, but of course none of us, including the supreme court justices who ruled on it actually knew that for another 47 years.
Pretty much. I would have loved to see a proper attempt at this vs cheesy bling + yet another BMW in lemons.
I see no restraints or muzzles in the child compartment, nor is it large enough to hold two screaming brats...er...loving children. Plus the rear end isn't even close.
Probably for the exact same reason it still takes fucking drivers and patches and configuration settings to set up a regular video card and make it function?
...Ignoring the fact that Congress IGNORED the Constitution??? The 4th Amendment flatly prohibits
this kind of activity
That's OK(*), because our Supreme Court has repeatedly said that the 4th amendment doesn't apply to electronic devices or communications...the whole PATRIOT act thing was just icing on the cake.
(*)..and by OK I mean completely not OK, but good luck changing it.
My 20 year old car has a cassette player. Any car with a cassette has an aux-out by default (via a $3 cassette adapter).
FM transmitters are not required, just plug it into your phone and you're good to go. Want an upgrade? Buy a new phone. Problem solved. BUT please, no more angry birds on the freeway, you promised me you wouldn't do that anymore.
Here in the UK we enjoy almost uninterrupted mains power. No brownouts (a brownout perhaps every eight months which is usually due to maintenance, extreme weather or emergency works), no requirement for external generators nor for a UPS for your desktop PC.
I understand that the power supply in the US is patchy at best, with frequent brownouts.
In some areas yes, probably because we're in a huge sparsely populated country with mountains and snow and hurricanes....meanwhile you live on a small island where it rains a lot.
It's kind of the same argument as you get from EU countries on internet infrastructure and public transportation. The lower the population density and the bigger the area you need to cover the pricier these solutions get.
I have one and they're great so long as you don't mind your controller looking like it's got a facehugger (imdb:aliens) strapped to it. It's also substantially cheaper than a 3D printer, go figure.
Most LED tail-lights drive me absolutely crazy, but my dad doesn't even notice them.
Most LED tail-lights are fine, but certain auto-makers have apparently decided to make theirs insanely bright and/or use low refresh rates. *cough* Audis, Mazda 3's, mid-2000 Honda Accords, etc.
I'm not Corey Hart and I don't want to wear my sunglasses at night....so I can, so I can...get through my damn commute without getting a migraine in stop and go traffic.
The government is now stating that a person much know their rights for their rights to exist. And this same government threatens all manner of trouble for anyone who teaches and explains to people what their rights are. Can we finally all agree that government is fully and generally opposed to people having any rights at all?
Since they seem to keep violating them at will, they probably feel it's better if we're in the dark on that point.
Here are some other fun facts:
1. Officers can arrest you without invoking Miranda. They only need that if they want to use your statements in evidence after the arrest has been made.
2. Officers are under no requirement to tell you your rights, and are perfectly free to lie to you about them if you ask.
"The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little bit of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost incremental reductions. In this way people will not see those rights being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed."
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.
In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.

The Sumerians of Mesopotamia called and said you're wrong, their cuneiform writing predates Egyptian hieroglyphs
....and also to tell those pyramid building bastards to suck it.

Finally, an explanation for why they invariably have one or two lonely clerks at the front desk but at least 6 more milling around the back-room.
Now if someone could just explain why the same thing happens at the DMV.

Even if that were true, this law is 100% effective at preventing repeat offenders.
