    I won't use a smartphone unless it has removable storage and a removable battery, one of the many reasons I keep accepting the free Samsung Galaxy phone rather than the free iPhone from my telco every 2 years.

    I still remember people in 1996 asking me how to change the user's screen res using JavaScript so "they can view my site correctly" and getting all bent out of shape when I tried to explain to them why this was a horrible idea (and not allowed in any case).

    The US became the space leader because the N-1 failed. Had the Russian moonshot rocket worked, they would have beaten us to the moon by a week or so.

    None of the N1 launches were manned, and the US had already done a manned flyby of the Moon (the Apollo 8 mission, to be exact) exactly 2 months before the first N1 test shot was made in February 1969. The US landed 2 men on the Moon 5 months after that.

    So, no, there was absolutely no chance at all of that happening.

    Non sequitur. As long as there have been kids getting born and raised, there have been kids getting born and raised in transit. That's neither a reason for not having the kids, nor for not making the trip.

    What bothers me about you self-appointed anti-space-nutter crusaders:

    1. I don't see any space nutters. I see some people who are interested in space travel the way some folks like you are interested in pro sports and pr0n.

    2. Your arguments all boil down to "I'm afraid to do this; therefore, you should be forbidden from doing it." Now that is fucked up.

    Bingo. One of the Web's biggest problems has always been "it's just like print" types who create static layouts that fit only within the biggest screen they can lay hold of, and the rest of the world be damned.

    I really like how the Firefox devs recently decided that my tabs should move above almost everything else instead of at the top of the browser window where is where I put them so they would be immediately accessible from whatever page I'm viewing, AND did their damnedest to keep anybody from moving it back. What a complete and utter fail.
