    According to Babelfish:
It was once sweet rabbit. The rabbit had a large carrot. It was a special carrot: if you ate a piece of it, then she regenerated within fewer minutes again. The rabbit hid it in its earth hole. But a beautiful daily, when the rabbit came back to its hole, was it away. The rabbit frightened and began a hole to dig. It dug and dug to it on a large cave pushed. The carrot is because of the other end of the cave. But there was also an orange, petrified cow with wings.

Orange petrified cow with wings, indeed. :)

So why should I have to reboot when I install something like Nero?

You don't. Unless you're running Win9x, Nero works without rebooting, as do a zillion games and software that wants to reboot. Only times I have to reboot is if I install display drivers or OS updates, hopefully Longhorn fixes this as the display system is supposedly able to die and restart without the computer crashing.

If you are saying that falling stock prices is punishment enough then you need to remember stock owner != company, the price of an individual stock has no meaning whatsoever to a company. If you mean "voting with your wallet" we have to remember that in a completely unregulated and free market, customers wouldn't even hear about privacy breaches. But I agree with you that it shouldn't be regulated, I think it should be criminalised. Security can be 100%, if social engineering is a problem, design around it. If a security system can be compromised by calling a secretary and telling a few lies, then it isn't a very good system in the first place. :)

Do you really think corporations would care about the private information they store if they could lose them without consequence? I'm not a communist, but there is no doubt in my mind that if corporations would be allowed free reign, we'd lose even the rest of our freedom. And why do you think 100% security is impossible? If you make a program that's designed properly and is programmed properly, then it should be quite possible. The reason programs are riddled with security holes is because it's cheaper to patch them instead of making a solid piece of software.

It gets a bit difficult when you want to zoom at an object far away though, when I installed longer rails I wasn't able to turn my head any more! High-def bionic eyes with zoom and night-vision would be pretty cool, not to mention the possibility of using them as a way to overlay information on top of stuff you see. Getting spyware could be quite annoying though, and if law enforcement had a way of remotely disabling them would suck, but maybe one could avoid that by running OS software on them. :)

I don't see how HVDs are worse than CDs, losing your CD has exactly the same effect: everything on the disc is lost. The amount of data doesn't matter, you still would have to mirror the data on multiple copies for redundancy, even with CDs. This way it at least will (hopefully) be cheaper.

Sorry, a quick google search turned this up:

    United States Patent: 5,960,411

A method and system for cooling down a device with gases from it's environment. The cooling is done by a novel application of a long piece of material consisting of intertwined fibres. This material is attached to the device by a novel application of fastening techniques covered by other patents. The other end of the material is then fastened to a point high enough to cause the device to stay stationary at a certain height. This results in a novel, non-obvious flow of gas around the device resulting in a interaction that cools down the device.

I recommend against fixing your Xbox360 crashes in this way, you open yourself up for litigation.
