    I'd take Wing Commander (or Freelancer) style mouse based control over joystick anytime.

    The typical way of simulating the joystick in space sims is not so good (as you say it causes mousepad-too-small problem)

    What is it about chess programs and crashing.

    I remember playing against OS/2 chess program (I play crap), and it worked fine while I was losing, but when I managed to get into a winning situation the program crashed.

    I guess it didn't take defeat well.

    Changing the tab size from the default 8 is a very bad idea. Using spaces is preferable.

    Why would it be funny?

    If you are going to make a 3D desktop, that would be the most intutitive (= well known) interface.

    the fan on 10000 was quite loud until I used a resistor

    I agree. No card will seem as impressive as going from the software renderer to Voodoo 2. After that I went to GF2 and GF4Ti and Voodoo 2 is still the most impressive jump.

    To Williams and McLaren budgets you need to add BWM and Mercedes engine budgets probably on order of 50-100M at least.

    This should be obvious to anyone that has seen the show. The shows was made 10 years after trek, but the effects look like they from 10 years before trek.
