They'd have to do a really good job, because after first seeing G'Kar he seemed instantly familiar to me (I soon realized that he was a Romulan captain from ST:TNG). Maybe the voice helped.

Same here. I played many 15 minute sessions of Doom 3.
It took me about a year to finish it, and the expansion pack is still unfinished.
As opposed to HL2 which I finished in 2 weekends (it get's boring really quickly when you get the gravity gun) and then forgot about it.
Serious Sam (the first one, not the poor sequel), is a good 'sequel' to Doom.
I also like Painkiller as a Quake 'sequel'.

I took me a lot of time to train it to somewhat understand me (I'm not a native english speaker, and my PC was not exactly fast)
So, almost a decade later, MS stuff is no better.

Exactly. Trusted computing is not trustworthy as long as it's Microsoft (or Apple or anyone else) that only has the keys.
I want to choose myself who I trust or not.
