    Of the major network screw-ups I can remember where I work, all of them were caused by IT pushing out a rule or utility over the network that exploded on the pad. When this happens, nobody seems be held accountable.

    There are a lot of really stupid IT policies out there that, in the name of security, in fact merely hinder getting work done. I am not talking about P2P. Giving a developer a workstation with a user account with no administrator privileges on Windows is among them.

    I have Vista home premium on a laptop I bought and I hate it. A lot of my apps don't run. Copying files takes a lot longer than my XP machines for some reason. It sucks.

    The patent in question is 5072412, which was originally issued to Xerox in 1987 I thought that patents issued prior to 1995 expired before 17 years and after 1995 expire after 20 years? How can they hope to enforce an expired patent or is there a way to get around expiration now?

    Something to consider is that AMD's customers aren't you and I. AMD's customers are OEM PC makers, large and small. That is wrong. They may sell to the OEMs but if they take your view that the OEM is THE customer, they are going to bite it hard. If AMD produces products that the OEMs love but the consumer hates, ultimately, the OEM will hate it too (Unless you are Microsoft).
    I will think hard before I buy a bunch of DRMed crap. That means I won't buy anything Sony.
