A lot of others have stated plenty of valid reasons. However, their HW is crap. I bought an AV receiver that not only died but it took my high-end JBL speakers out with it. That thing had a joke for a heatsink. After watching one movie, the case of that thing was literally hot enough to burn. Looking into this model (not a low-end model either) on the web, it seems others had the same heat problems with this receiver. I replaced it with a Yamaha and that works great.

I have a Sony DVD player that won't play a lot of DVDs. One CD player that didn't make it past 3 years old before it croaked.

I USED to be a Sony fan but I resent giving them good money for crap.

I was coming from Utah back to California. We had just stopped in Primm, NV to eat. Just after Primm, we saw what we thought was some crazy guy tearing up the desert after drinking way too much beer. The dust cloud behind this "guy" was incredible - I saw it from miles away. The vehicle was coming towards Primm from the California side and probable a mile off the freeway. As the vehicle past us, that thing was bouncing pretty good. I remember commenting to my girlfriend that that "his" suspension wasn't going to be the same after that. It wasn't until a couple of days later that I figured out what we had seen. Had I known, I would have stopped to watch and take pictures.

  18. Hah! Fat chance! on Toshiba Settles Class Action Suit · · Score: 0

I was one of the unlucky bastards who bought one of these pieces of shit. I have replaced the HD twice, on #3 now. It turns out the HD just cooks away. You have to monitor the HD temp which means maybe 30 minutes of use before the HD is really too hot and you have to shut it down. If you want to shut it down quickly, press below the keyboard with your left hand. It seems to cause the battery to disconnect. It used to happen to me while tyoing all the time before I figured out what was happening.

But I digress... I replaced those HDs myself (not wanting to surrender my data to a corporation). I didn't save the receipts because I really didn't think there was any reason to do so. So, I am probably out of luck.

I noticed that on my settlement notice, one of the "rewards" was a coupon to be redeemed on MORE Toshiba shit. Fat chance of me taking them up on that one because I feel they screwed me over. I am not going to EVER buy another Toshiba product. Toshiba, welcome to my shit list. Notice GM is at the top of that list.
