At the very least, obsessing with your health makes you buy a shitload of diet complements and fantasize that all the problems caused to your body by stress will be relieved, leaving you free to enjoy life. As I'm not a communist either, I will sure agree that it forces you to be productive, but it would be missing the elephant in the room if you denied that also capitalism forces you to be productive. Although the nature of 'forcing' changes a little: In the one case you are forced with real force, where in the other case you are pointed to the cheese in the mousetrap, which is the wealth that one person out of 1000 achieves through capitalism.
Logic is a path to follow in order to reach a predefined purpose. Smoking can't be illogical per se. Facts cannot be illogical and indeed, people do smoke. Now, here, in declaring that smoking is illogical, the contemporary capitalistic dominant value system is implied, defining as purpose the 'long live (and be productive...)' doctrine. But if somebody takes pleasure in smoking and the purpose he has define for his life is to dive in pleasures, then smoking is perfectly logical. The possibility of cancer is the price he accepts to pay in order to maintain his values and purposes.

It's funny how the 'keep internet open, free and without restrictions' doctrine is regarded as 'regulation', whereas the 'let companies regulate internet in any way they wish' is regarded as 'no regulation'. It's the 'market will find its balance' joke.
I have a dedicated remote server which (among other things) exports via iSCSI a partition on a RAID 5. On each of the backup-ed PCs/servers a cron script connects to the iSCSI target, open the LUKS volume on the target, and mounts the FS. Then the backup-ed PC/server runs rsnapshot to create a snapshot of its current status. So I can retrieve anything from any of the backuped servers/PCs as it was at anytime. Plus, I don't have to trust anyone on the remote server site because everything leaves the backuped servers/PCs encrypted. Works like a charm!
The writer dismisses all too easy the fear of losing privacy, just because there are technical solutions, as if it was a matter of technical difficulties. The State will not allow this because it will lose power (over people's lives).

You can't bring as an argument in favor of the proposed law the opinion of someone who's kid has been abducted! He's too biased to think rational, and you can't build a law on top of such a bias.

I was using BTRFS on two laptops everyday and all was fine for at least a year, but had to remove it because I really needed the accurate free space reading feature...
I regularly have to get rid of disks of my firm with clients backups etc. I just remove very easily the electronic circuit on the back and then during the cold days of winter I put the disks in my fireplace. I don't know the exact temperature there, but next morning all there is is the outer casing and an aluminum maze in the ash bin. I guess, that does the trick.
