  1. Good luck to them on New 'Pentop' Computer To Help Children Learn · · Score: 1

I really doubt they'll sell a whole lot of them. The whole concept is rather pointless, really. You can use your phone for far more, it may be bigger, but at least it's wifi! And I suppose you can make calls on it. As a great comedian once pointed out, you buy hundreds of pens, but where's one when you need it? This product will not last very long.

  2. Pretty cool... on College Libraries Without Books · · Score: 1

That actually sounds pretty cool. Though there's nothing like curling up with a book, good or not, it is a pretty cool idea. I might set up my rumpus similar to this (with the colours and stuff. Right now it's cold tile and brick/wall with a lot of grey and silver stuff). Purple is good. lol. Coffee is even better! I wish Aussie Highschool libraries were setup like this :D Ours would improve vastly!

  3. They wonder why they scare me... on Henrico County iBook Sale Creates iRiot · · Score: 1

Rabid Mac users scare me. They aren't anywhere near as bad as a windows only world (oh the horror...) but they do frighten me. I think we should rally them up, and get them to take over the Earth, so us Unix-based users can be the dominant breed. We will have to give Wozniak and Jobs good positions, but at least they make nice GUI's. We can also get rid of capitalism by telling them everyone gets free Mac Minis :)

We just find it hard to believe anyone can possibly think that little. I guess we females just live different lives... If it weren't for sex, we'd all just ignore you guys. Actually, truth be told, I don't get along with other females. At least guys can be talked into carrying stuff for us :)

  5. I don't need one... on House-Sitting Robot Hits Store Shelves in Japan · · Score: 1

I don't need one- I'm always at home, or at school. Yes, I need a life, but I'm perfectly happy doing what I do (nothing).

  6. Men are from mars... on Animated View from the Mars Rover · · Score: 1

If men are from mars, the rover should be able to take a picture of what the hell goes on in guys minds. It's hard enough to tell from earth though.

  7. They should just model it after males... on Modern History of Cryptography Techniques · · Score: 1

Males are impossible to understand... Why don't they just say what they think? I don't think I can stand them anymore...

  9. other things to do... on Introducing a Child to Constructive Computer Use? · · Score: 1

I'm in the process of turning my 6 year old brother into a geek... I guess it's kinda natural for him- he already prefers Linux, though that may have something to do with Tux... Anyway, for his birthday, I'm giving him an older computer. I think that it's better for kids to learn HTML/xhtml, some basic control of a commandline as well as playing some games. Try giving your kid a pre-school type typing tutor that also teaches some reading skills. Don't teach ... Internet access shouldn't be restricted too much, but try to keep your daughter/son off mindless sites. Get rid of Internet Explorer, for everyone's sanity. My brother can use Opera with no problems (neopets and the Wiggles and stuff like that...)

  10. Re:Browsers... on Firefox Share Slipped in July for the First Time · · Score: 1

No. Lynx is a text-based browser. There IS quite a difference between Mozilla and Firefox. Believe me, I know.

  11. Lets blame illegitimate wars on Panel Challenges NASA Over Shuttle Safety · · Score: 2, Interesting

If you look at how small the budget is, compared to the (illegitimate) war in Iraq is costing and how much it will cost in the future. I reckon that an 'economy' based on how Earth runs in StarTrek would be great. I know that managers would be bored, coz everyone else would tell them to get stuffed :D

  12. I don't think so.... on Laser Surgery Goes Online · · Score: 1

As many people have said, they prefer a doctor to be in the room with them. I ABSOLUTLEY agree. The internet can be used for many things, but surgery is not one of them.

  13. Been waiting for years on Australia's largest telco to be split · · Score: 1

Telstra and the government have been talking about this for several years, so either 1) It will happen very soon or 2)We will be waiting another decade before this actually happens. The National party (not even the shadow cabinet) is trying to get some Telstra services for those who live in remote regions, but last I heard, they weren't doing very well. As far as I see it, most people (especially those in 'power') don't take them very seriously.

  14. I may consider purchasing one... on Booting an x86 Virtual Machine from an iPod · · Score: 1

I'm not saying I have anything against Apple, just the fans. The rabid ones. To tell you how much they scare me, consider having to use a '56k'(yeah, right) dialup connection for another decade or two. Exactly. I have never actually cared about having an iPod. I also don't like USB a whole lot... ANYWAY... If the price comes down a little, I may consider purchasing one. Not for music, but for general storage and sutff like this. Am I promised not to become one of the RAF? (Rabid Apple Fan)

  15. Browsers... on Firefox Share Slipped in July for the First Time · · Score: 1

Firefox is good I admit, far better than IE. I'm an Opera user, but Firefox is second in line. I used to use Mozilla (before Firefox), but I found it too unstable. MS could probably increase the amount of IE users a lot if they included tabbed browsing, though a lot of us wouldn't care. Anyway, I think it's great that average users are trying other software. Now if only we could make Lynx mainstream....
