They do have packages I'd like, and my company went with them for a BIG contract, which I procured. When I left the board, I was given the MAC codes to take the number I was using (an impressive one with loads of doubles in it) and start a new Voda contract for myself. I had £100 ready for deposit, because no debit card.
Voda's only problem, after many hours of customer support for me and colleagues too, was that I didn't have a debit card. Yes, fine, you can pay by BACS but you still need the debit card to verify your identity. But what about my birth cert., my bank card, my statements? blah blah no sorry "terrorism". This is true, check it out.
I'm not trolling here, I really am suffering due to this barrier. Anybody will to offer a third-party deal? I need the £20 unlimited broadband on the £25/month,300 minute deal. And I can pay for the damn thing lol They even advised me to get a friend to do it!!!

Now there are people (like me) who dont have the steady income for a debit card, but do have the income for phone contracts and bundled minutes but who are forced to squander many times the amount that contract holders pay, cos they won't sign you up for a bundle of minutes, decent internet package (ie > 1Gb / month) or anything else contract-related, without a debit card. Even if you have a lump sum with you and ID in their store, no sorry, to get a contract you need a debit card.
If you are in the UK and you think you know different, I need a decent comms contract pre-paid, I have my own HSDPA handset, I need decent internet and a bundle of minutes for NO MORE THAN 5p each God they gouge you all of them at 35p why is no body else kicking off about this like me? Have you all got debit cards? Am I the exception? Or have other intelligent, but poor people fallen through the gaps in digital divide??? Some Helpful Feedback: Keyboard control is terrible (I HATE the mouse and mousey users, LearnDirect, MCSE etc... if you can't type commands and solve problems even in Windows you can get out of my lab / off my lawn), no proper Start > Run... equivalent (no the ALT-F2 box in Gnome is not equivalent, and that stupid search thing, Beagle I think, is just cruft, bloat, spyware or all three), windows don't redraw themselves properly as I ALT-Tab to switch around, esp. if Firefox is running, and configuration is so kludged that I shout at it as I browse the menus looking for settings I saw yesterday, in a completely illogical place! In windows now I press the Windows(TM) key and start typing - a path in the filesystem or on the network, a web address, a control panel item, an installed program, a recently created file, etc..

Actually, if you do some research (for which I provided a manufacturer and model number) you'll find it's not a tube amp. It's a Class A MOSFET amp with 6 discrete channels (which means each channel gets its own transistor and heatsinkage), with digital and analogue inputs.
The discrete channels are the alternative to your crappy single-transistor, multiplexed amp. Please look up these terms and try to go in a real hifi shop for a listen (it's free) before you dismiss me as a fetishist. Although I must admit, now it's been brought to my attention, that there's a hint of eros in your description of my speaker cables... thanks!;-P

I'm posting on a laptop but I once said I'd never get one for the reasons you gave (price,chipset, CPU, graphics)!
However, we can agree that this machine IS an exception to the rule... it's a HP TX2530ea tablet which puts my old Nvidia GeForce 7600GT to shame in Fallout 3 and Oblivion with it's "boo..." integrated Radeon 3200 HD... but in general I hate laptop chipsets for the reasons you gave and their unmaintainability.
Also, what gives with new graphics cards without VGA connectors? I'll be damned if I'll throw out dozens of monitors and half a dozen DECENT projectors just to satisfy the RIAA wanting everything digital (read locked!). Have to re-connect to post now, and no I won't waste bandwidth on an auto-refreshing page in the background!

If you are curious and follow the thread, you'll find I use them on a bench, which in this case is constructed from 6"x2" pine and 8"x2" for the benchtop, made in-house from recycled wood. It is not a desk, it is the side bench of a studio and workshop. We have several similar rooms, this one is mine:) If you read some of the replies, you'll find someone accusing me of using them to inflict evil on my somewhat loyal and devoted staff and volunteers and my ranting rebuttal which may provide you with some amusement. I can almost certainly assure you that she rants in English, and fast, but that only other women can hear it because there is pitch and phonetic information in there which they can interpret easily. Some Helpful Feedback: Keyboard control is terrible (I HATE the mouse and mousey users, LearnDirect, MCSE etc... if you can't type commands and solve problems even in Windows you can get out of my lab / off my lawn), no proper Start > Run... equivalent (no the ALT-F2 box in Gnome is not equivalent, and that stupid search thing, Beagle I think, is just cruft, bloat, spyware or all three), windows don't redraw themselves properly as I ALT-Tab to switch around, esp. if Firefox is running, and configuration is so kludged that I shout at it as I browse the menus looking for settings I saw yesterday, in a completely illogical place! In windows now I press the Windows(TM) key and start typing - a path in the filesystem or on the network, a web address, a control panel item, an installed program, a recently created file, etc..
Disclaimer: This is a flame, not flamebait, I want somebody to take this as feedback too, and I would switch if Linux catered to my home user side as well as my geeky command line urges!! I'm probably not the only one, either.
I hated M$ right up until Win7 RC, but nowasays I have to give them their dues. If you're not into the latest LOLCATz, social networking and opening stupid email attachments, and can run a NAT router, it's as secure as Linux is, too.
Either you've met my mum and really like her, or you are my mum. The big question is - how did she get a lower UID than me??? Especially when I had cable broadband at my own flat before she even got a dial-up modem for my spoilt little sister "to do her homework"??? Carrying along the same vein, I wasn't allowed friends, and was stuck with a CPC464 complete with green screen and NO PRINTER despite same excuse (homework) till 1994 because of the prevailing attitude in this post! In fact if my mum did read this post, she KNOWS DAMN WELL WHO I AM and WHY AM FLAMING THIS!! Sheltering children turns them into antisocial, trolling, trollops. Like me. Case in point: Me. This is a flame, not a troll, or flamebait. I know that the parent was sarcasm, but he/she has a damn good point.

Actually, if you do some research (for which I provided a manufacturer and model number) you'll find it's not a tube amp. It's a Class A MOSFET amp with 6 discrete channels (which means each channel gets its own transistor and heatsinkage), with digital and analogue inputs.
The discrete channels are the alternative to your crappy single-transistor, multiplexed amp. Please look up these terms and try to go in a real hifi shop for a listen (it's free) before you dismiss me as a fetishist. Although I must admit, now it's been brought to my attention, that there's a hint of eros in your description of my speaker cables ... thanks! ;-P
OMG half of those rants above are fuelled by the anger caused by my 3G phone auto-disconnecting whether I SET IT TO OR NOT! I agree... and Facebook etc is SO much better than email, except when it doesn't work and then all the questions come to me...
I'm posting on a laptop but I once said I'd never get one for the reasons you gave (price,chipset, CPU, graphics)!
However, we can agree that this machine IS an exception to the rule ... it's a HP TX2530ea tablet which puts my old Nvidia GeForce 7600GT to shame in Fallout 3 and Oblivion with it's "boo..." integrated Radeon 3200 HD... but in general I hate laptop chipsets for the reasons you gave and their unmaintainability.
Also, what gives with new graphics cards without VGA connectors? I'll be damned if I'll throw out dozens of monitors and half a dozen DECENT projectors just to satisfy the RIAA wanting everything digital (read locked!). Have to re-connect to post now, and no I won't waste bandwidth on an auto-refreshing page in the background!
LOL after all that, you are right, and that's what my GGGP post said, I prefer these, I doubt you'll want them. I've bitten allsorts of random trolls and so on defending my setup today, which I enjoy doing, but very true, each his own. If you are curious and follow the thread, you'll find I use them on a bench, which in this case is constructed from 6"x2" pine and 8"x2" for the benchtop, made in-house from recycled wood. It is not a desk, it is the side bench of a studio and workshop. We have several similar rooms, this one is mine :) If you read some of the replies, you'll find someone accusing me of using them to inflict evil on my somewhat loyal and devoted staff and volunteers and my ranting rebuttal which may provide you with some amusement. Thanks for the only sensible replies. Ps, as one last trolly point, I don't mention black levels, you do though. :P

I can almost certainly assure you that she rants in English, and fast, but that only other women can hear it because there is pitch and phonetic information in there which they can interpret easily. I have the same problem, I have to s l o w r i g h t d o w n when I'm angry just to get the message across but female strangers across the hall are nodding and smiling in agreement with whatever I'm ranting about. Get used to it.
I am tired of this being an argument - I like them, my clients and coworkers like them, and with natural lighting can't see, and am not bothered by, flickering (or blurred pixels, either, since 1600 x 1200 is the grille resolution on all three). It's apples and oranges, I wish people could just accept that. I am only responding so flamily (sic) because of the idiot who misinterpreted my entire post and accused me of not bothering to look at the range of modern flat panels available. The one with the BARGAIN BASEMENT caps. Mikael, I believe his name was. He's now my only foe (and probably my only freak, but ./ still says nobody dares :-P)
