Yes it is, and I bet that keeps you awake at night. How's that Nokia deal working out?, maybe you could get a few more of your monkeys to buy phones in Amazon and copy paste reviews just so you can brag about its sales rank for a week.
Nokia passed at the chance to use Android because they didn't want to be "just another Android maker", and instead basically became "just another WP7 maker", I mean, you can say whatever you want about the Nokia MS deal but at the end of the day MS will discard the Nokia carcass once they're done sucking whatever's left out of it.
Nokia had nothing to lose by betting on both platforms.
Seems to be working for Samsung. Nokia made a terrible mistake with LIMITING themselves to Windows. They should have provided both.
This, there is nothing stopping them from releasing Android products and no matter what they say, their WP7 phones are not that different from the ones made by HTC or Samsung. They should have at least given it a go but Elop is one of the biggest Microsoft shareholders and there's no way he'd ever let that happen so he's dragging Nokia down with him.... I'm amazed they're keeping him on the job, he's tearing the company apart.
Doesn't deserve the downvotes.
Android is a nightmare for (game) developers. So many wildly varying specs, some missing major features (no FPU, no multi-touch!)
Wasn't this the main philosophy behind the Windows desktop. Just load the desktop quickly, give an appearance of accepting user input, but nothing works for minutes after that? How do you think that worked? Of course people might think the program is Not Responding (TM) and try to end it/start new instance.
I'm not sure what you're referring to, you mean like when you boot up an old Windows XP machine that has dozens of applications set to start up on boot? The Windows Desktop is pretty darn snappy the first time you boot into Windows on any computer, it does get slower due to software bloat, that is a Windows issue, most apps in Mac, iOS and Android already appear to load instantly to the user.
I think one of the main mistakes software developers make is taking the users' attention from granted. One of the things that makes the iPhone/iPad so successful is the fact that applications seemingly load instantly when what they actually do is gently transition from the home screen to load a full screen image (as someone has mentioned above this is usually a screenshot of the app the last time it was closed), this buys the programmer time to load the actual app and providers the user with clear feedback that their input has been successful.
The user experience should be as important as the main functionality of an application, it's a shame not many people get that.
About 4) You could simply load the main window and menus and give the user input while the rest of the application continues to load in the background. Apps don't need to load instantly as long as the user gets the perception that they are.
Tablets offer a better user experience for media consumption, they are lighter, thinner and have longer battery life than most, if not all laptops currently available .
Stick to your clamshells, eventually you'll catch on.
Companies are starting to notice people are willing to pay money not only for in game items, but also for perks that used to come in the form of cheat codes. So users are being given the choice to either spend hours unlocking stuff through gameplay or pay up to unlock them immediately.
Gameloft is one of the worst offenders, Modern Combat 3, which is a clear ripoff of the CoD Modern Warfare series allows users to purchase kill streak rewards with real cash.
Worst thing is, they've only just started to figure this stuff out, give it a couple years... we, as gamers are screwed.
I'd turn that one right around. My 3 year old Nokia N95 lasts longer tethering data to my laptop than my 3GS does on standby, and from what I've seen the iPhone 4 isn't much better. Does a 4S even last the day?
While I will concede the data in the chart is technically correct, it is designed to make it look like all iPhone models were up to date 3 years after release (through creative use if the term "major version"), which simply isn't true, the last version of iOS with support for the iPhone 3G came out just over 2 years after it was released, and even then it was running a crippled down version with no support for multitasking APIs.
So that chart lies from the get go. Plus, Android being Open Source allows users to port newer versions to older devices as long as they're powerful enough to run them.
This raises the question: when do we get an "open" open-source* search engine?
*one we have the source-code to, so we know that our search results are genuine; and also one we can rely on for not sharing our thoughts with other parties.
Never, if you know how it works you'll know how to game it, 99% of results will belong to spammers.
4.0 is 3.0 with support for small devices, the source for Honeycomb was withheld to stop developers from attempting to shoehorn it into phones and make fragmentation worse than it already is. The first Honeycomb devices started to come out during February/March, which is hardly "almost a year".
Really? Because last I checked the source code of ever major version not named honeycomb had been released.
If they ever decide to stop releasing the source, self entitled trolls like you still have no right to complain: They've released more OS source code than Apple and Microsoft combined ever will.
As far as Honeycomb goes it has been explained to death that it was a quick fix to get Android on tablets, ICS is essentially Honeycomb with phone support, they've gone on record to say the source will be released, and it'll likely be out in a month or two, so take it easy.
It's driving force is a desire for equality, where equality means that you get free money from the government.
Well that's how FOX News viewers would perceive it, the demonstrations come out of frustration with the state of the current financial system, and the fact that the people who caused it are very well off whilst the middle class is being obliterated.
People aren't protesting to get free stuff, but to express their disagreement with a country where 1% of the population control 40% of the wealth and growing, being able to use this to influence legislation in order to keep it that way.
So yeah, maybe you should get a clue before making incorrect assumptions/uninformed statements.
Android is winning.

Wait, Google buys Nokia and fires Elop. No, Facebook buys Nokia and fires Elop. No, Ebay buys Nokia and fires Elop.
Or Microsoft buys Nokia and gives Elop a bonus.
Yes and Yes, you can do this in Android as well. Insightful my ass.

Compared to Windows it's a dream come true.
Wasn't this the main philosophy behind the Windows desktop. Just load the desktop quickly, give an appearance of accepting user input, but nothing works for minutes after that? Huh?, Gingebread has always been up to date. Only Honeycomb, which accounts for about 1% of devices did not have its source released.

My phone has 4g
How's your battery life?

Well they better get paid up front instead of per search, IE users switch straight back to Google, what do they think FF users will do?
No need to resort to hurtful language. Fact is users with the Bing toolbar searched on Google and the results from Google showed up on Bing, period.
Multi touch wasn't invented by Apple, the UI showcase in Minority Report is pretty much mandatory viewing for anyone interested in HCI.
I'm curious why they didnt how the other prototype... You know, the one that looks quite a bit like most Android phones today only in red.
Fear mongering headlines followed by outright lies in the summaries, and people eat it up...

That's a shame you;re missing out, It's really good!, you can almost feel the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........
