You should finish rewriting your site around the same time you start seeing articles extolling the latest and greatest language that some too-smart developer dug up from obscurity after becoming bored with the last obscure language they used and got other bored minds excited about.

Then again you could just write it in Sanscrit, a 5000 year old dead language, I'm sure lots of kids coming out of college majored in that.

I'm just curious what exactly everyone is doing (on Windows I understand Firefox has different problems on Mac) that causes Firefox's memory usage to be a problem on a modern box.

I have a gig of RAM, 256 of which goes right to a VMware instance, run Outlook all day long, usually have photoshop open, and work with Firefox all day long. Multiple tabs, plenty of fun little extensions, Flash, the whole package.

So what clues you into Firefox's memory usage? Does your system start running slowly? Or are you opening Task Manager seeing Firefox is using 200megs and getting angry?

Maybe I have better luck because I shutdown nightly.

Like the large majority of Americans first I have to get an HDTV. I won't be doing that anytime soon since I don't have cash laying around to blow on a TV. I suppose I could just go into debt, but that got old when I started paying bills.

Seriously if Sony wants to sell a bunch more PS3's they should bundle it with an HDTV.

It's a serious outlay of cash when you need $500 for PS3, $50 for a game and $500 for a TV to make it worth even having. From everything I've seen PS3 doesn't look any better on an SDTV than some of the latest PS2 games. The controller is even 90% the same. Not many arguments for upgrading without a nice widescreen to enjoy it on.

Those students still get by on the computer resources made available by the school.

Unless it's dead simple to transfer music you're out of luck. Add in the fact not too many providers are keen to offer cables to hook up your phone to your PC and the problem grows.

Bundle a phone with a dock and software for Mac's and PC's that just works, that's no more expensive than a Nano and you might start gaining market share.

Oh and price, I'm not dropping more than $200 on a gadget. I lose/break my phone, that's $150-200, I lose/break my ipod $150-200, I lose/break my camera $150-200 (and that's a darn good one), I lose this all in one mess? $600 please.

Fact is younger people can be forced to work longer and harder because they don't have a family, aren't experiencing hyper-tension, can be paid less, etc.

Every one of them says the difference is hardly noticeable, slight bit of extra sharpness to the picture for the HD one. This is NOT the jump from VHS to DVD.

Other than for data storage these two formats are about 7-10 years ahead of when they'd really be needed.

Why they felt the need to try and push another new format on top of DVD is beyond me. Sounds like a pissing match that got out of hand. Where was the guy standing up in the meeting asking "Wait why are we spending time and tons of money on this right at this moment?"
