    I remember hearing a story passed down that someone had patented a way to install metal plates at toll booths such that as each car that passed the weight would press down on the plate generating force to power turbines etc. Anyway rumor had it the government bought out the guy because it could potentially generate so much power etc to put local power companies out of business.

    They're where they always are, on Nintendo's consoles. Too bad they're all "kiddie" games. I still enjoy my gamecube and GBA more than anything else I have. Well with the exception of Civ 4 :)

    Looks good, except Creative has proven to not exactly offer decent support on their products. At least with an ipod I know it will just work when I plug it in.

    I gotta say I downloaded the freebee last month and Opera has replaced Firefox both on my laptop at work and my desktop at home.

    It's much faster, just as stable, and has Email & IRC right there. I have no problem using it full screen with a panel on the left of my bookmarks & email.

    I was actually going to buy it I was so impressed.

    Just wanted to let everyone know it is totally worth the 3.5Meg download.

    Device targeted at mature (older) gamers not played as much as it isn't really suitable to use in the small portions of time adults have to play a device.

    To pile on with all the rest, neither will dominant or do particularly well without decently priced home units.

    However, if I had to choose, blu-ray will slowly pick up steam as people who get the PS3 decide to toy with it.

    When was the last time you used a wireless controller? I'm guessing not in the last 3 years.

    The wavebird is awesome, still haven't changed the batteries, unknown number of hours on it.

    Same with my wireless logitech for my PS2.

    All surrounded by my wireless 802.11bga wireless router and 2.4ghz wireless phone. Never noticed interference.

    You make it sound like changing the batteries once a year if you're playing 8 hours a day is like being asked to climb mount Everest. If you need to change that often perhaps you should get out and get some exercise. /sorry for feeding the dumb troll.

    Problem, I have writers with no HTML skills, not even basic ones despite two years of trying to get them to learn bold tags. Some people just don't get it.

    Solution they paste into a plain textarea, save and are sent to a page with a scaled down HTMLarea type editor where they can do the basic formatting they are allowed to do on the site. There should be nothing in their Word document formatting that can't be accomplished.

    Tables/Images are not meant to be part of the article and as such they should ask for that ability on an as needed basis.

    This has made my life better because I now get perfect XHTML transitional from their stories without the headaches caused from pasting in from Word.

    I have yet to hear anyone complain they can't get the format they want in their story.

    This is the dumbest thing ever. You either have faith or you don't. If you do research to try and prove you're in some way correct in your faith, you totally defeat your whole argument.

    You don't need research if you have the bible. Everything you need to know is right there in the book.

    Stupid stupid stupid. I hate having conversations about what research has been done to back up the bible theory. "Oh well there's only 3 feet of silt on the ocean floor, and since silt settles at the rate of 10cm a year that backs us up."

    "Really what chapter and verse did you read that in? Oh you read about it from someone who did research? Your lack of faith is disturbing!"

    I'll rant about this all night so I'll stop here.

    If they can take the same characters over and over and do fun things with them. Mario Cart, Super Smash Brothers, Metroid Prime, who cares?

    Then of course they can produce things like Pikmin, and Warioware.

    Why focus so much on those few main characters? I don't see anyone complaining about the reuse of the Final Fantasy properties, or Metal Gear, Madden, etc. All of which Nintendo manages to get into their world as well.

    Just want to say you're not alone. As the only developer in my department (there's a DBA in IT for accounting mostly) it's impossible to explain that I don't just push a few buttons and make things happen.

    I tried explaining to the boss that he has to stop piping little jobs down, with Highest Priority, to me when I am trying to meet a coding deadline on a large project.

    I put it in these terms, imagine you're doing your taxes and every 10 minutes your wife comes to ask you to do something else.

    A) How long would it take to annoy you?
    B) How much longer would it take you to finish your taxes?
    C) How long until you quit?

    I got the oh ok we'll let you be, that lasted oh about 2 hours.

    I have seriously thought about taking time off just so I can finish work from home where I won't be bothered. Sad I know.

    Thanks for the link I hadn't looked at ezPublish really yet.

    Plone's design is kick arse, especially with the ease of use concerning external editors. I think we have the hardware power to handle running a plone site, but you're right everything I've read says it can be dog slow.

    I am hoping with a decent proxy I could fix this using Squid or something of that nature.

    LOL, yes that is true! Look at my UID!

    It's really more of a I have only so many hours to actually customize a CMS, on top of I am the only web developer on top of many other responsibilities.

    Don't ask why they only have one guy doing a site that will easily exceed 100,000 registered users. It's a large corp with managers. And we've all learned about managers from Dilbert.

    I am reading through the Plone docs again this week, but I really wish I had something that ran on Ruby On Rails. Such a great framework!
