  1. Re:Nokia's fate? on Qt 5 Alpha Released · · Score: 5, Informative

They've made an effort over the past year to move Qt into becoming an independent project. See http://qt-project.org/ and http://wiki.qt-project.org/The_Qt_Governance_Model . In some respects, Nokia's already put all their eggs in Microsoft's basket (their abandoning of Meego and non Windows Phone mobile OSs), and it doesn't seem to have impacted Qt's development in any noticeable fashion.

I found the easiest thing to do is just run once or twice a week for the length of your favorite podcast. Start out walking once a week, and ramp up the intensity over time as you feel comfortable. My personal favorites for such a run include GFW radio / 1up Yours, which usually have a multi-hour runtime and enough geeky distraction that the time doesn't feel wasted. Eventually it'll just becomes a habit, which is what you want.

Can someone explain to this naive college student why that post is getting responses like

Dude you shouldn't have published this, why do you even work for microsoft. you should quit right away.

I cannot believe you posted this. What is wrong with you? Makes me shudder to think what else your pathetic and bereft character would allow yourself to post. No house is perfect, we're all a little dysfunctional. Assuming you have a significant other or children, how would you feel if one of them decided to post something that highlighted your imperfections..? Wait, they wouldn't have to, your lack of integrity has been sufficiently demonstrated here.
The entire post sounded reasonable, and was an interesting peek into the sort of corporate environments I may / may not be hired into in the next few years.

Funny you should mention that. It looks like Valve's going to be distributing ATI driver updates through steam. Quote from Gabe Newell...

I'm pretty excited about finally getting some display drivers - the ATI announcement included that - where rather than having the situation they have right now where there are literally tens, close to hundreds of display drivers out there on people's machines, that everybody will have the most current, the most up-to-date driver, automatic bug-reporting and things like that. That's a nice step forward.

... as long as it doesn't result in any delays for HL2: Episode 2. I enjoyed the first one, but waiting any more than 6 months for another four hour game would test my patience. On another topic, why are they releasing HL2 for consoles AGAIN? Wasn't the xbox release less than stellar (sales wise)?

The only way Nintendo could get me even slightly excited for their new system, is the promise of "new" games. Not remakes, nor sequels. Among their big Gamecube titles, which were not simply another title in a twenty year old series? I like Mario as much as the next gamer, but it wouldn't hurt for them to come up with something new this time around.
