On a more serious note: In Norway, before you get drafted to the military, you need to take a theoretical test. It's part IQ and part maths/physics. The test has been the same for many, many years. Other than some strange language and perhaps a few weird examples, it isn't really that difficult. So at least Norwegian kids (boys) get to test their abilities against their parents' (parent).
10.5.2 Server has a show-stopper bug with AFP/Open Directory which gradually makes authentication impossible.
Gradually, you get no file access, no VNC, no SSH and in the end you cannot log on locally with an attached screen and keyboard.
The issue has been heavily discussed at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1251475&tstart=0
Our backup software (Retrospect) makes a duplicate of our external backup disk at 1GiB/minute. The duplicate hard disk is used for off-site storage. With 200-300 GiB of data, that's 3-5 hours to make a backup. The disks use Firewire 800.
With an 7,5 hour work day, the person responsible has to come to work at a reasonable hour (no meetings at other people's offices in the morning) and stay for at least 3-5 hours before the hard disk can be taken away again. Which is not very flexible...
So I totally agree, this could be really useful a lot of people, at least for us. Even if 3 hours might seem like a long time for some people.
While visiting an Internet cafe in China, a friend of mine used her university VPN connection to be able to browse sites that her university has subscription access to.
Some time later, a guy comes into the cafe and asks her to leave. Politely, but still, if the reason was her VPN use then that's really, really scary. And probably happens every day...
The Burmese would like to call it Myanmar instead of Burma, but they won't, as it was the military who changed the name, and not an elected government. So they will keep calling it Burma until they can call it Myanmar themselves.
I don't know which is the more correct answer, that one or this one: http://klas.blogg.no/images/matte_1133784535.jpeg

According to an article I read this weekend, after United Fruit Company started importing bananas to the U.S. around 1900, bananas were actually so popular that there was a real danger of stepping on one if you walked down the street. Urban legend, perhaps. The article was based mainly on two books: http://www.amazon.com/Bananas-United-Fruit-Company-Shaped/dp/1841958816/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212404832&sr=8-1 and http://www.amazon.com/Banana-Fate-Fruit-Changed-World/dp/1594630380/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212404832&sr=8-2

You know, nostalgia is just another word for extremly selective memory.
...so what you're trying to say is Jesus should have invaded a large part of Western Europe?

It has been independent from Denmark since 1944. People from Iceland are known for speaking English very well.

Oddly enough, though, there are no stories of Mac users burning themselves on their laptops...
The reason why: Mac users are cool.
Time to check that Resume download feature as well.
