    If I were the content side of this struggle, I would encode a serial number tag somewhere in the DVD. Change it around so often that people have to spend >1 hour finding it. Make it spread-spectrum. Then when the DVD is stolen, the RIAA can return it to you.

    I guess I could have said:

    hey Jeff Dionne or Michael Durrant (inventors of uClinux), we need a port of the Palm-WEBOS.

    Sometimes I feel like Gnome/KDE are like the Dems/Republicans, big and past-useful, but not exactly the new-world-order. Having an open source PALM-WEBOS would be cool.

    My comments come off rough, but I really love Linux and want it besting itself!

    We need to hit the consultants, not the school. Convince the consultant and it will get in the school. If the consultant gets an extra $1M by pushing free sw, it will happen.

    Didn't Cal Tech do this 15 years ago? Albeit fun, but wheres the learning? For example, The DARPA challenge taps the creative mind with algorithms that the Feds can't see, but in this, I just see headlines. Headlines are nice for funding I guess. Are any of the actual researchers on this blog?

    Thats why I don't support the auto bailout.
    Let them file bankrupcy and restructure all contracts.
    We have to quit treating Detroit like Amtrak or the Smithsonian.
    Its not the end of the world, just let them restructure.

    Also, I think they need to keep factories as fluid as possible so they can shop-states like the NFL does. Here in TN (home of Saturn), we would welcome some low-wage jobs. We don't need high wages here!

    Unions suck, BUT Unions have kept auto-manufacturing in this country.
    They create a cliff, but the cliff is far away!
    I would support an IEEE union.
    It would keep cushey C++ jobs here, not in India!

    Most people hate giving up a percentage, but we do it everyday.
    50% to my recruiter (headhunter) who gets me contracts.
    18% to my VisaCard.
    50% if I were a whore.
    10% to my busboy.
    2% to a Union.

    Get Leahy (president of IEEE) to spearhead this, instead of just sitting around!
    (she went to Purdue, so I can rag on her)

    yea there is an explanation, Its one day in the life of a teacher. Some days are good, some days are bad. Go teach, then get back to me. All this crap is out of context and you love it. I considered telling my kids "you won't amount to anything", because kids relish proving the teacher wrong. That seemed a better course than just smiling all the time.

    I don't know where crowd-data does more than give you busywork.

    While busywork is fun, you might also consider an advanced cruise-control (ACC)

    I use a Speederaser. Cheap, universal. Everyone hates it until they try it. It helps you relax, trust me, you won't miss your rage...

    It is nice to see Microsoft doing something that I suspected Google was doing. Competition is good. -cellurl

    Lets have a slashdot vote. I have to add this: Doctors are self employed. Organizing makes sense. Lawyers are self employed. Organizing makes sense. IT are typically employees. It doesn't make sense. Unions suck. They always do. Bar associations work, protectionist that they are. But you cant form a bar with employees, only consultants or self employed people. I am a PE, what good it did me...

    Honestly, I think the judges welcome valid reasons to let people slide. You just can't say "I dont want a ticket". Providing any tech data will give them a reason to let it slide. BTW, (full disclosure). I sell a GPS speed limit device. Before you get mad. Let me explain. It runs your cruise control. (gpscruise.com) I got a ticket and mentioned the device in court. After I lost (yes I still lost), the judge said, "You never said that the device was actively operating your gas pedal". Had I said that, I would have won! Next time.

    True story: I fought a ticket recently. In court I mentioned tire pressure, angle, etc, all adding to an overall tolerance error. The judge said, "there is no tolerance in speeding".
