  1. Re:Dumb Question? on Adobe Lightroom Review · · Score: 2

To tell you the truth... I dont think classes would be the way to go in order to learn photoshop... Its much more effective to do a trial and error approach and mess around with the tools until you get what you want. If you MUST be taught.. then i suggest attempting some of the 2,000,000+ free tutorials out there for photoshop, they really do help. And these are comprehensive.. most are step-by-step and provide images and settings to get the same results. Taking classes for photoshop seems a waste of money with all the free help that exists... I became fluent with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 my freshman year in highschool after only being exposed to the program for less than 3 months.

Well, I'll rephrase what i meant then... These people know how to use the program, but not the code. When all they use is the WYSIWYG editor it adds unnecesary code and they tend to rely on that instead of having the ability to edit the code themselves... This is what we mean by using a text editor... dreamweaver is a text editor basically, if you have the ability to use it that way, and i think that makes you a better developer.

I agree with this and the parent... I'm a Freshman in college, but I work as the Web Administrator/Designer of the University Center for Media Design. I often find myself working 2x + 3x more than I should have to, most of the work is fixing mistakes in code created by Macromedia Dreamweaver and inexperienced designers. Most of the mistakes are created by people who have 4+ years experience with the software, but have NO IDEA how to hard code anything. These are the people getting the jobs that people like us, who actually understand the code, should get. IMHO its downgrading standards... businesses start to accept the badly designed and expect to pay less for actual quality material... http://www.lawsonflooring.com/

I'm pretty sure, by saying Do No Evil, they realy do base it on ethics. It is true their ethics arent governed by religion or some community, but the base it on convenience and indirect, less annoying, forms of advertising, which im sure you know. But my point is that all google has to do to reconcile the Time Warner partnership is change how AOL works and take out all the crappy advertisements that they bombard their members with daily. That would fit their definition of Do No Evil. (I think this is pretty much stated in their mission statement cant remember URL)

  5. Re:Back when hackers ruled the net on HBO Attacking BitTorrent · · Score: 1
What HBO is doing is what every business should be doing instead of taking the RIAA's route. HBO is not restricting your right to make copies at home, they are not restricting your archiving of those copies, or even sharing them with your family/close friends. They are not suing BitTorrent, they are not demanding that all P2P software be banned, they are pro-actively preventing the illegal distribution of their material in an incredibly low impact manner. Bravo, HBO.

I totally agree with this, however underhanded it seems they really are not hurting anyone... maybe pissing people off for wasting a little extra time. Like you said, more businesses really should change to this method, even if it might be an annoying inconvenience for myself in the near future.

I agree they are the same.. BUT, its not so much the software as it is the way OSX uses windows... i like the ability to see the desktop while using photoshop.. instead of a grey square... also another difference is that photoshop windows can use the entire screen on OSX as opposed to being restricted to the application window on Windows with the grey background... and in that, it is different.. theres simply more room to use on OSX

I've found that it seems a bit like the Mac OSX version of Photoshop... if GiMP was made to work more like that on a linux or windows system, i'd have to switch from PS to Gimp, just because i like the way it works so much better.

There is a rumor going around among individual government researchers and documentary filmers, such as those on http://www.infowars.com/ that claim that part of the reason the hurricane increased in power so quickly was the HAARP was used, by spreading certain materials in the ionosphere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAARP). Now, the rumor currently states that this was an attempt to prevent such a large scale catastrophe, but there was an error somewhere or in some calculation that cause the opposite to happen... Also as i said this is just a rumor, who knows if its true, i'm just throwing it up for criticism.

When I looked at the system tray, it was filled with 15+ icons. [...] So I got rid of them all. I got tired of keeping track of what program was calling home.

Fortunately for everyone who hasnt uninstalled every single plugin for the above reason there is another way to get rid of ALLL of those icons... Go into the programs properties and set it to not run on startup.. that'll speed your boot. Then when you come across the random web site that has something other than flash(I personally don't see TONS that fit this category) then start up the right program to let you play the video... Also, a reason flash is better than others is the ability to make it so much more interactive and integrated.
