Yeah, I'm not much for filling my USB ports with worthless dongles. People don't like putting CDs in while playing a game, and a dongle is certainly even worse.
then again i tried the client and it seems to be very unstable and slow on torrents with a low nr of seeders and leechers.
i also tried BitThief like somebody else suggested but that one was even worse.
it looks like and acts like a nice console app when started from cli
but once you get to the gui, if you can even call it that, it crashes when you simply
want to select a torrent, which kinda renders it useless to me
Just because it doesn't work for you, doesn't mean it doesn't work for anyone:\.. Also, I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be perfectly polished with a nice fancy gui. It's supposed to get the job done.
I've had this sort of problem when downloading with azureous.. at 97%, download speed would drop (one other person in the swarm, a seeder), and wouldn't start. The only solution was to continually stop and start the torrent (it would download about 30mb each time I did this). The end file wasn't corrupt, either.
That also means it's already OpenGL, not just directx (OpenGL is the only option on mac, can be used on windows with the -opengl switch).
I would like to see them do the same sort of thing that is done with NWN: offer the executable client downloadable from the web, and then just use the windows/mac MPQs (WoW data files).
I dunno if I agree about actually skipping it, but I know what you mean. Except more often then not, it's just other asshat children who are the problem, who consider every organized game a huge competition that they just have to win, and you make one mistake, and they hate you, whereas they can make as many mistakes as they want an noone gives a fuck.
It's not necessarily needing anything extra, it's just the basics..
In my junior high school, kids were not allowed to use the internet at lunch, although they were allowed to use the computers. And the librarian walked by every 5 minutes to enforce the rule. Yes, the school had a very strict proxy. What the hell is that? Talk about asshats running the school. It's not like there were even that many people wanting to use the internet. They also left the uninstaller in the deep freeze directory, and didn't bother disabling 'net send' or the command prompt, or regedit for that matter.
"I've never played WoW... that said, depending on how Glider works, it could involve intercepting and decrypting an encrypted stream and that could be a violation of the good old DMCA."
It works by injecting key presses into WoW via the Windows clipboard (Glider is windows only), and reading WoW's memory (Glider does not write into WoW's memory).
The fact is, it's easy to write a
very simple
World of Warcraft bot. I'm surprised there aren't more bots like Glider.
IPv6 basically allows the internet to have WAY more IP addresses than now possible with IPv4.
Yes, with an IPv6 scheme, each machine would have it's own public IP address, pingable anywhere on the net. They SHOULDN'T charge you more, but you never know if you are going to get an asshat deciding pricing.
I don't know what you are having to manage on your network. Do you have file servers for your LAN only? Is there something you think would make IPv6 w/o NAT more difficult?
Linux doesn't format partitions. A partitioner (such as fdisk) does that, and the disk has to be unmounted.
And really, for the average user, why would they be wanting to format their drive with anything but the default setup?
Actually, all new intel desktop macs come with the Mighty Mouse, which is not a one-button mouse.
It's an Apple mouse, and as for their laptops.. Well, do you really use the trackpad that much that you need more than one button on it?

This is not a first in Canada, MTS does this too (mts.net).

Well.. if the labor is expensive, let's just build bots that do it for us. Course, the labor on that project would be expensive..

No, it's all over once they add counter-strike style sprays to WoW.
Wait, wait.. Where do I sign up for WoW physics?

I was bored with Halo after my fake serial stopped working online.
You mean, one that would cost more than the billions he already has? Woah..
Yes, we need to block spam smarter, not harder.
Unless a large number of people are watching pr0n and downloading warez.

If they are somewhat opposed to employees running P2P, why would they want to upgrade to vista when this P2P service is tied in?
If it blocks Norton, sign me up.
That is not nearly the first post, not to mention it would have been a very stupid first post.
If they aren't detectable in any way.. annoyances, popups, mysterious things happening to the computer, increased traffic..
Then.. why worry about it?
Yeah.. but you sure WANT to..
