After he does it, will these annoying South Park jokes stop?
Leave it on LFG..
(South Park world of warcraft episode, if you are interested in why this is supposed to be funny)
Except when mispelling URLs when filing police reports. Oh, and, claiming harassement when people donate money to charity.
(I'm sorry, I don't have the links offhand, but you should be able to find them pretty easily)
They'll probably also be spelled as poorly as your post.
"Libya, the answer we were looking for was L-i-b-y-a."
It's nice to hear that the first thing you think of kids with laptops is mass spam. And hey, if one person does it, why not just block every single email from Libya? Sounds like a fantastic idea for someone who labels a whole age group and a whole country as spamemrs.
Yes, they have mad skillz.
Of course (not really a reply to this post), although the average kid can figure out how to load Counter-Strike source or use limewire (Yes, I know of bittorrent, many don't), that doesn't mean they would actually look for (or be able to pick out) something like a keylogger.. On a windows box, if you rename the EXE to svchost, even if they do give it a quick glance, they probably wouldn't even know the difference. Because, it's not just having the knowledge, it's actually the willingness to use it.
Also, the Mac interface is an abomination. A hodgepodge of totally different (but equally hideous) skins, blurry fonts, and whizz-bang effects that do nothing but slow down any attempt at serious work.
Not to start a flame war (and I wouldn't say I'm against windows entirely, there's one that dualboots Gentoo sitting right next to me).. But that's my exact opinion of the Windows interface (minus the whizz-bang effects, yeah, those get a bit annoying). For example, whenever you install any piece of software from a vendor other than Microsoft, it breaks so many HIG rules it could make me cry.. Different colours, strange fonts, Weird-shaped windows, anything you can find.. I mean, it's not ALWAYS bad design (I like how Steam looks in Windows), but how long can a person actually STAND the default blue appearance? I feel like I'm using that "Toy Factory" theme for Mozilla browsers. Except in Windows, your only other options are the sorta-okay silver, the classic style, or Olive green (and many people hate that).
Seriously, even the software performs this way.. Ever put a Logitech disc in the drive, avoided throwing up at how it looked, installed it (without the installer crashing), then tried to print with a non-logitech printer? Well, probably not. Seriously, though; if the software isn't BY Microsoft, it feels like spyware. Especially how software installs crap all over the registry.. I just HATE hunting down keys the installer forgot to remove, noticing traces of their software all over a day later.. Not everybody considers a clean install a good way to get rid of software.
Of course, there are parts of OS X I really HATE.. Dashboard (looked like a neat feature in previews and screenshots.. turns out it really sucks), Spotlight (I thought this was supposed to be fast.. not just HANG there if I add in another search term), and Finder (It's just terrible).
But, to each their own. If using windows works better for you.. doesn't make sense for anyone to tell you to bend over backwards and use a different OS.
Ohhh, man.. There site is served off of IIS. Let's hope too many slashdotters don't notice that one *laughing hard*.
Not saying I want to take part in the Linux/Apache Windows/IIS war, but come on; this is Slashdot.

It's in whatever OSes kernel. For Mac, you've got Spotlight with it's importer, and Linux with it's inotify() patches and whatever metadata index&search frontend you want (may I suggest Beagle).
To get rid of this annoying update:
Search and delete wgatray.exe
Kill wgatray.exe
It is now completely gone; Of course, just by looking in the task manager, you should've been able to fix it yourself. Shortly after this, in order to solve the licensing issue, I deleted XP and made my x86 box a single-boot.
Good Question.
I think that people just try to avoid mirroring copyrighted things.. Take a Windows XP SP2 patch. Unless it's a very big company promoting Microsoft products (say CNET), Microsoft would probably ask that the patch would be taken down. The reason in this case would be because they couldn't control who gets it (invalid serials, anyone). On the other hand, most stuff like this that would be so sensitive to copyright probably wouldn't be mirrored by anyone anyways.
A bit off topic, but I thought -0s binaries were rarely used in precompiled packages, and weren't reccomended by many? Maybe I'm completely off.
As for compiling, I agree in some aspects, but others seem to be left out.
Altivec makes a very big difference, especially with things like MPlayer, so it's important for PPC machines to have that enabled. It's just one of those things that gives it that extra special feel.
Also, if a binary is 32-bit running on a 64-bit system, you will have a noticeable speed difference that running a completely native 64-bit version of that same app. I'm not saying that it's worth it to recompile Firefox so you can refresh slashdot even faster and nab that first comment, I'm saying it might be preferable in heavily used apps, such as Xorg, Luminocity (new OpenGL Windowmanager), Cedega and UT2004 (well, you can't compile those, but the thought is there), and things like MySQL.
Yeah, I'll give you that. I really need to learn to use the preview button more. To myself: RTFM nubcakes!
Actually, it's called a typo. Typo: an abbreviation for typographical error. An error in the typeset copy.

I'm pretty sure everyone already knew that.
Sounds more like a rapper to me.
If you reply to flamebait, then the terrorists win!
Yeah, it's better he burn in hell for using messenger.

THANK you, took the words right out of my mouth.
Maybe that's what he's aiming for.
Uhh.. how the hell would they release it on both mac/linux and steam?

I sure hope you mean ifconfig. :P
Slashdot needs an Edit button. Sorry, I meant to write "their".

I read "Ask Slashdot" for the comments, not the story.
Nice. All poor people use drugs, and can't/don't want to stop. Yeah, there are no other reasons for them being poor. *sarcasm*

Mirror of PDFs here in case it gets ./-ed (Low bandwidth, but still):
