Wow so much for being an advanced economy.. In India I can do instant transfer to any other account in the country using my phone and it's executed within minutes if not seconds.. works even on weekends and holidays... And it's almost free

  5. I used to work in the UK and it was crazy to see the amount of control the bank had on your finances in terms of blocking transactions etc.. here in India even if the bank suspects an illegal transaction occurring, the best they can do is report it but they have no authority to block or stop it unless a competent authority of the court asks them to..

I can also set up a virtual payment address similar to an email that will remain the same even if I switch banks and the virtual pmt address can be anything I want similar to email addresses..

well the AADHAAR system you are talking about has multiple levels of authentication which include iris, fingerprint, OTP to your mobile and password.. and the system does not give out any of these information, any one can use the system to authenticate by the means they deem fit by submitting the authentication details to the AADHAAR service and it will get back with only a TRUE/FALSE response and nothing else.. so as a service provider you can decide the level of authentication required, a bank might decide to use IRIS+PIN where as a liquor shop is just happy to verify your age against your fingerprint.

  9. well it's not ppl cheating but pilferage in the supply chain that has traditionally been very difficult to control.. ppl at present have multiple ID (pan number - a tax id) to dodge taxes etc, this new system would mean that a person can only obtain one ID as a match in finger print or iris will cause the 2nd id not to be issued and the PDS system would need to authenticate the user for each transaction before any benefits are given meaning it is a lot more difficult for intermediaries to just siphon off 50% of the product and just make fake entries in the book claiming they were disbursed as intended...

  10. I used to deal with Wallmart as a supplier.. Their order management system and accounts is very inefficient. My deliveries routinely get lost in their system and my payments are missed with no proper way to track them.. I have stopped doing business with them as they refuse to acknowledge that I have made certain deliveries for which I have not received payment. Their stores are sometime unable to generate GRN due to system inefficiencies.. I don't trust their IT systems at all..

The idea of trade (any form of trade or barter) from an individual perspective is not for the betterment of society but for their own good but the unintended consequence is advantageous to society as a whole.. People might hate globalisation, free flow of capital etc but there is no denying that the onslaught of globalisation has reduced global poverty but I agree this has been at the price of increased inequality... Increased inequality in my opinion is better than all being equally poor... And for ppl who would disagree that global poverty has reduced just check world bank data on all statistics such as nutrition, health care, life span, access to electricity, telecommunication etc and you will see all there has been a remarkable rise in these factor over the last 30 years all over the world...

It really does not matter who you give these credits, it will work as long as there is not an oversupply of them... Let’s say my dog is given some carbon credits, and company 'A' that's polluting would be willing to pay my dog for those 10 credits as long as it is cheaper than the cost of reducing pollution... Now let’s say the cost of reducing pollution is 11$ for that company and they paid my dog 10$ to buy those credits to continue polluting... Now let’s say company B came along and their cost of reducing pollution is 13$, this company would be more than happy to pay 12$ to company A to buy those credits. Company A would now be happy to use $11 to actually implement technology to reduce emission and make a profit of 1$ through trading... Yes giving credit to the wrong people in the first place means some unworthy ppl make some money but the system as a whole will still function as long as there is not an oversupply of these credits...
