I always thought statistics was boring but the video by the prof http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2670820702 819322251 really intrigued me, statistics makes so much sense when presented properly... the numbers not only make sense but also explains their relation with other statistics giving a much broader view.. I'm sure a tool like this would be a boon to decision makers...
why is MyISAM a joke.. if you don't require all the fancy features like transactions etc... it provides really good performance benefits.. We use MyISAM and we deal with millions of records and the performance is really good considering that most queries are for read...
I was wondering if school kids here understood the difference, I tried this with two 6th grade students and both of them knew the difference.. I am amazed that more than a couple of adults at Verizon could not figure it out.. not exactly a scientific study but I seriously feel that the US needs to work on its education system, particular schools and high schools.
The US universities are of excellent quality but I figure only a very small proportion of your population would be eligible to study there given their understanding of basic school education.

I see a lot of negative comments here... what ppl fail to understand is that it is not meant to be a practical solution but a project for the sake of doing it...
I enjoy working on small projects in my spare time which do not actually solve anything but just keeps me engaged and the stuff this guy done is cool from that perspective..

i don't see the point in having an integrated spellchecker.. that's what FireFox plug-ins are for... the FireFox developers should concentrate on just building a solid stable browser and allow others to add features like spellchecker etc using the plug-in feature..
I was surprised to see that my nokia N70 came with Norton anti virus for mobile phones installed.. And expected it was hogging my phone resource making the menus sluggish and got rid of the crap...
I don't think mobile phone virus threat is much due to the varieties in platform the phones run.. Its just another way for anti virus companies to make money
still critical systems such as a nuclear power plant etc use token ring as performance, time , and other factors can be guaranteed where as on an Ethernet there is no guarantee that a node will be able to transmit data within a given time frame.. but of course this can be overcome by connecting each node to a Ethernet switch to get rid of collisions..
I am surprised to see that most people here think that this is a very bad idea... since on most occasions you see slashdotters talking about how management does not value their employees. I am sure the employees would server the customer better if they are happy with the job, as the employees are the ones who deal with customer on a day to day basis.. management can say what it wants... just because the management says customer comes first does not mean that the customer is getting good service from the employees... but if the top management treats the employees well it automatically ensures that the customers are served better...
would the response be similar if this was a US company instead of Indian
whats so good about blackberry when you have generic mobile devices which can access email though a browser and supports most trivial tasks you already do on a desktop...
The reason the digital system will reduce piracy is, in India movies are usually copied while moving the film tape (reel) from one place to another.. For example a movie released in a particular city might just have one reel and it has to be shared between cinemas and are exchanged on a show to show basis...
