    mediocre = average, so enough for most people. that's a damn good result if you are going for the average user (not the nerdy pro-gamer).

    That's not true. Since the fall of bretton woods, America hasn't had any backing for their currency other that pure confidence. that's what economists have been calling, since the 90's, "the grey matter" that keeps america financially backed when it comes to treasury papers. Read some Modigliani and Miller for capital costs and risk assesment. It's kind of old, but still will give you a pretty good idea about why currency doesn't need to be backed by anything but trust.

    Some of the people may have wanted what Castro wanted, but I doubt the majority of those who fought for the revolution would have if they realized that

    that's a no-no in any college paper or reasonable discussion. if you don't show credentials, citations, quotes, etc. you don't get to say what you think and expect people to take you seriously.

    but a fantastic nascar driver wouldn't need to fully understand algebra or calculus. that's the point. So you know calculus and physics? Great, but how does that help you when you are required to drive a F1 car at top speed with 20 competitors on your tail? Or talking in front of a huge audience? Or making a cork with a lathe? The conclusion: Inteligence AS WE CONCEIVE IT is over-rated and misguided.

    Am I the only one that know "jocks" that exceled in science, math or eny other geek domain as well? I love sports; as a brazilian, soccer mostly. But I played rugby when I lived in australia, and I surf every other weekend. I was never a bully, by the way. I guess in america all jocks are dumb and bullies. Geek, jock, we are all just plain old "people" in Brazil. My closest friends are all sports-lovers and/or geeks. No segregation.

    not quite so. Here in brazil (world's biggest roman catholic country) the pentecostal churches are all the rage. You actually can buy your way into heaven, and the owner of the bigger pentecostal church goes to the mass in a helicopter.

    The only choice here is the "next best thing". You can try to adjust the results from a flawed experiment or just fabricate them from no experiment. My guess is that the former is bound to be closer to the expected true.

    that's only impressive if you'd let us know how many people were on the boat. So if it was 100 people, a few men had to get pregnant (woodstock). If it was 1000, 10% of the female populace got pregnant.(love fest) 10.000 would be 1% of the female populace (not such an impressive number).

    not really. I just wonder if a 3D model would be so much more precise than a 2D one; since it's only one surface. Nothing to do with forensics, just plain need. Face recognition, optical recognition, voice recognition, penis recognition, butt, leg, feet, etc. Each one sets a hole new group of options, but not any advantages over the last group.

    you could still just have 2 engines, one for each front wheel. No transmission, no diferencial, no satellite box, no bearings, no crankshaft ... those are all made of nodular iron, so it would be much lighter, that is until you put on the batteries.
