I like Clinton and believe he may have been able to win a third term if the constitution allowed
Are you serious? I disagree -- I feel that his opponents would have GRILLED him on his moral problems, and even more crap would come out of the closet, making America hate him a lot, once again.
I have a relative who ditched Andersen Consulting (amazing company) for a dotcom. He was offered a bit less money, but "stock options", and doesn't have to travel, which is better for him now that he's married.
The thing is that at Andersen, they made a policy that if you ditch for a dotcom, you're not allowed back when the dotcom fails! Companies like them knew that there'd be problems such as now, can't say they didn't warn ya...
the one thing i haven't seen answered is, what should I do if my card got stolen? Get rid of this one? Mommy's gonna be PISSED.:-(
This is awful, 3.1 million! Wow. Please let me know what we should do, if its safe to use the same one (and monitor it well), or if that's a bad idea...
The worst thing about this is that almost all of the teachers now have to re-learn a new language. Our teacher had to learn C++, and spent a LOT of time getting it down because he's that kind of great teacher. I can see many other teachers finally getting the hang of C++, and then absolutely sucking at Java. They're who the headache is really for.
The size of the US government is clearly too big. Who cares? Why are my tax dollars going towards 2 government groups to bicker about something that really doesn't need to be regulated? This is ridiculous, and this is why I am a Libertarian. GRR!
Come on you guys! Everyone's forgetting something here!
Regardless of WHAT is taugh to him, we gotta be selfish. We have to make him an open-source zealot, so that if he ends up being a great programmer, he does good things for me, and i don't have to pay for his software:)
Regardless if this article was pulled out of JonKatz's ass or not, one great thing to realize is that video games are NOT the poison that many make them out to be. After all, the average kid 8-13 spends FOUR hours in front of the TV each day, according to the first document i could find when i got curious, here.
Now, i'm not going to go out on limbs and say that gamers are smart, decision makers, leaders, and everything else that JonKatz wants them to be. However, I will say that what they're doing is better than rotting in front of the boob tube. And at least they're not just sitting there! The stereotypes on gamers are horrible. I'd rather be a gamer (which i'm kinda not) than just sit on my ass and watch TV (which I don't either).
Damn, now that I think about it, what *DO* i do with all my time?!:)
Are you serious about the opensource.creative.com's drivers being better? I've been using the stock ones that came with Mandrake's 2.2.17 kernel because I encountered errors when trying to update to Creatives. I think Mandrake moved some files around that creative's was looking for. Does anybody have any information on that?
I'd like to wait for Mandrake to put out a 2.2.18 update (i like all the good stuff they have in there, like supermount), but I want to get the better sound too then!
MondayMorning Dec 11 -- I've just been deluged with orders -- like about 40 or 50. I can't handle all of these (I usually send one or two klein bottles per day). I am trying to take care of these, but don't know how long it'll take - two or three days, I'd guess.
So please DON'T ORDER UNTIL I REMOVE THIS NOTICE! Apologies, but I'm just one person who does *everything* here -- and I have to take care of my 2 kids when they return from Kindergarten.
I'll agree. Although I'm anti-Opera, this is a good idea for those of you who want a fast browser. I've been trying Mozilla + Galeon a lot too, but its still not stable enough if you ask me. Quicker than my netscape 4.75 though:)
I've worked tech support at a DSL provider, and seeing that there are telcos as well as DSL carriers involved for us (the carrier is suposed to work WITH the telco...), there is a great amount of fingerpointing from one place to another. That's what i think the worst part of it was.
I'm upset that I haven't seen enough posts claiming:
GET A NEW PROVIDER
While some idiots wonder "What would NADER do?", the rest of us know damned well that the ISP can do whatever it wants to it servers.
In the meantime, you're still financially supporting a company that does not support YOU. Don't do what some nader-whiner-baby would do.
Do what any other true American would do: Find a better deal with better quality
(in this case, one that will let you host your legal mp3s). It's called competition, and I guarantee you that there are some providers out there that are better, cheaper, faster, multi-homed, let you mp3, and have plenty of power backup.
In this case, your voice is not a weapon - your dollar is.
So if I'm working for MS and am programming IE, and i go home and figure out how mozilla does this one thing, and I come back and throw that into the IE code, how are they gonna know?:)
My thoughts exactly. For Windows users, this means that Napigator will take off as well, correct? They're the whole lot that needs to be switched and kept free... just seeing that they're the majority.
In no way am I wealthy. However, you are right, we have a duty to society - to SPEND and invest our money. That way, jobs can be created and money flow is kept high. Giving it to the government for absurd reasons is not anyone's duty. It's a mistake.
The real problem is that you don't understand how the market works. Supply and demand levels itself to a great equilibrium if people like Nader don't MESS with it. Instead, you prefer to keep the poor man poor, rather than having him learn and get a skilled job.
Besides, no one is in trouble of losing to foreign jobs if you allow free trade. USA also has stuff that China, for instance, would love to buy. By meddling with it, you keep yourself at the bottom.
I'm not at all against our laborers. They are very necessary. However, I'm against meddling with their economies and keeping them down, which is all that will really happen when you limit trade and growth.
I love how Nader wants to punish those of us who have succeeded, and reward those who have not. It all makes sense to me. I work hard and have to basically give money to one who doesn't. Thanks a lot.
Congratulations, Rob.
What a nice guy you are. I mean it. I'm not being sarcastic. Really! This is one of your best ever!

Funny article! The idea of mascots arose a great question though -- why doesn't MS do mascots?
