You can also set up Koha with self checkout. And I have to say I think your statement about Koha people is inaccurate. Just have a look at the very active mailing list archives to see otherwise. Occasionally you may have that but overall Koha folks are very willing to help.
Yes, TigerDirect utterly sucks! Avoid them like the plague. I buy most of my parts from newegg, but I live in Pennsylvania so I don't have to worry about the sales tax.

For some label machines you can get magnetic labels. Handy for labeling kvm's, so if you move things around all you have to do is move the label.
