Its interesting that CCP has setup a system where virtual currency is directly translatable to real-world assets (In this case the asset is a subscription to a service, which despite what you'd think its an asset none the less). I think that this is fundamentally flawed and is just asking for exploitation by "gold-farmers" (Or ISK farmers if you will).
For the more metrically inclined among us, 236 M/h equals 379 Km/h (105 m/s) and 328 M/h is 527 Km/h (142 m/s). While the imperial system does have its merits, 527 Km/h looks so much faster than 328 M/h:P
For a non EVE player, the What Would You Do With 700 Billion ISK? thread makes absolutely no sense. What is a GTC or a BPO? I guess the same goes with WoW lingo.
If there was anyway of measuring the alcohol comsumption among internet users I'm sure you'd find that hits on the *.cm site would rise and fall with it:P
I wish I had mod points so I could give you +5 Informative. That's really interesting. As you said a game would require a lot of sophisticated code in order to use eye movements as a method of control and I think this sophisticated code would just reduce game performance. Also you would have to have a specialised piece of hardware in order for it to work. Unless they can work out some ingenious algorithms or such that lets you use something like a webcam to track eye movements I really don't think its very feasible or practical.
However I could see myself using it as a method of switching focus when using multiple monitors. When I use my laptop at home I plug in another monitor which sits to the right of me at a 45 angle to me so in that situation I believe that using eye-tracking as a method of switching focus would be a good idea. However not everyone has a setup like that so it's really just a pipe dream.
On the topic of unsecured WiFi in the "RIAA silver bullet" article if you ever frequent the CBD in Perth, Western Australia, be sure to check out the coffee shop called Gelare on William Street near the train station. They have an un-secured AP there with an SSID of "gdfw". It sure beats going to the net cafe Netcomm around the corner where the wireless costs about $15AUD for five minutes or some other absurd amount.
-1 Off-Topic here I come! And to think I finally got my karma from bad to positive.
I think with a lot of games like Guitar Heroes and DrumMania it really just comes down to practice. I spend a bit of time at the local arcade in Perth, Orbit, which has all of the "instrument games" (Including that piano one whose name I cannot remember). I only really go there to play either Virtua Cop or maybe a bit of Capcom Vs. SNK but there are some people there who are pretty much regulars and are always playing DDR or DrumMania. Some of my mates get pretty pissed because they never get a chance to play them. There's this Asian girl I see there a lot who is absolutely incredible at DrumMania. Whenever she's there she always draws a large audience. So I reckon it all really just comes down to practice (A lot of practice).
They have had technology like this for a while, although not as a method of input or control. They use special "eye-tracking" machines for hazard perception experiments with automobiles. I think using eye-tracking as an input device would be something that would be very hard to get used to. The human eye is a pretty amazing piece of hardware and I think a "machine" would have a hard time utilising it. Additionally you'd also have to have a special filter for crack addicts that have developed twitches. They could also implement shortcuts where if you roll your eyes it opens Firefox and navigates to Slashdot =P
My brother is quite a talented guitarist but I don't think this would automatically mean that he would "pwn" at guitar heroes (At least that's my theory; feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I did read that earlier article ( Guitar Hero Hacks) but I still think the mechanics are too different to the actual thing. However I believe that people who are proficient drummers would "pwn" at DrumMania because the mechanics are pretty much the same. Of course Guitar Heroes is made to be a game but I think it would be interesting to see a Guitar Heroes clone that is "backwards compatible" with people who are already musicians.
I used to play MTG back in the days of 5th Edition up to the 7th Edition days. We would all get together in the library at lunch time and duke it out with our killar deckz and leet skittles.
God I had a wasted childhood.
Anyway despite the social ramifications those were fun times. We never really played with an ante but a lot of trading took place. I'd always take along a deck or two and my big folder with all my rare's in it. However most of us were just there to play. We only really traded cards that we needed for our decks. I guess with MTG you get two different crowds: those that are there to play and those that are there to collect.
I still have all my cards still in my folder in my cupboard.
I'm sure you can just download the episodes off BitTorrent. Incidentally what do you mean by "cable TV"? I'm Australian and to my knowledge all we get down here is Foxtel and a bit of satellite.
Its been a while since I did Physics, but to my memory you would have to perform the following equation to calculate amount of energy that would be required to cool/heat a substance:
Q = mcT
Where:
Q = Heat energy taken into/out of a substance
m = Mass
c = Specific heat capacity of the substance
T = Change in temperature (Note there is supposed to be a delta in front of the T but I can't remember the escape code for it)
Well that's the groundwork I can't be bothered getting all the measurements in order. I, surprisingly, have other things to do with my time.
Fear not, mortal. I have noticed that Slashdot is horrible at predicting market trends, what with it having an extremely limited reader base (read: nerds).
[ducks]
My HTML toolbox, which is my little 64Mb thumbdrive, has really only the bare essentials for website development: Notepad++ and WS_FTP.
Or instead you could just use another browser.
Then, once he's dead and buried, we can make an ultra violent video game and harness the energy created by him spinning in his grave!

My grandparents are in their seventies and they still play games. Of course they only play games like Myst but still they play games none the less.
If WoW is such a horrible game then why do millions of people play it?
Dude yout forgot the spinners!
Well I prefer wakey-wakey, hands off snakey. Its the best of both worlds with some innuendo to boot :P
Well Snakes on a Plane actually came out yesterday in Australia, so wakey-wakey sleepy head.
If there was anyway of measuring the alcohol comsumption among internet users I'm sure you'd find that hits on the *.cm site would rise and fall with it :P
So are you saying that the internet is like some kind of tube?

Here is the Portal promotional video: Portal. This game looks very promising, IMO. May even be a reason for me to upgrade my rig :P
