  4. Castlevania, anyone? on Which Game Series Would You Reboot? · · Score: 1

Can't believe I haven't seen this mentioned, but I'd love to see a reboot of Castlevania. No 3D, keep it 2D but high-rez, large explorable worlds, lots of weapons and by the gods WHIPS. You have to admit, the Belmont legacy has gotten completely convoluted and retconned a few times. Just jettison it and create a new story with Simon(or Richter or whoever). And yes totally agree with Syndicate and Kid Icarus. Even if either or both are just a remake with updated graphics.

As I used to tell snarky Halo fanbois, "I liked Halo better when it was called Marathon". It always seemed to go over their heads tho.

  6. Re:Is this such a good idea? on South Carolina To Give 1 Laptop Per School Child · · Score: 1

As a fellow resident of South Carolina, I can tell you this guy's pretty much dead-on with his comments. This state's educational system is a joke. It was when I went through the system and it's measurably worse today. My best friend is working toward a degree in education and I pity him. I also agree with the AC who mentioned picking up a used laser printer. It will save you a ton of cash in the long run and make printing big jobs much quicker. As for OLPCSC....they should take that money and put it to better use. Keep the schools the idiot that runs the state wants to close open. Fund the teachers better. Anything else right now. These kids don't need the laptops and the teachers don't need the grief.

  7. Re:They work well too on WISPS Mean Cable and DSL Aren't the Only Choices · · Score: 1

There's a large difference between the Lowcountry and Upstate. In the part of the state I live in, we're still ruled by a rural-exempt ISP that is the only game in town, even though we're surrounded by areas that Time-Warner, Comcast and AT&T have moved into. Comporium's pricing is unreasonable at best and their service ranges from merely OK to awful. I can guarantee if there was a WISP up here that wasn't chained to Comporium there would be a lot of people that would switch. As for the big-city thing, I'm 15 minutes south of Charlotte. They have it, we don't.

  8. Re:Oh No! on Are Newspapers Doomed? · · Score: 1

Newspapers will either adapt, or they won't. I'd rather have a lot more, smaller newspapers (and local papers seem to do just fine, because they can get locally-targeted advertising)

As someone who works at one of those smaller local papers that is part of a larger corporation, I can tell you that we're getting hit just as hard as the bigger papers. And if you consider losing benefits, having just enough employees on staff to squeak by and having some of those staff work ridiculous hours to just stay above water as just fine then I dub thee a masochist.

They already make this. It's called SciFi/Comedy Central after 10pm. I've seen the Girls Gone Wild Ultimate Rush commercial roughly 138,562 times in the past month alone. It's almost enough to make you hate slutty women. Almost.
