"When they know what they want, they want to get it without waiting in line and worrying about whether the clerk's had a bad day."
A bad day. I can't TELL if those around me have had a bad day. They can hardly speak a word of English! They know how to do 4 things: how to scan the item, take your money, push that amount on the register, and give you the change that is shown on the screen. God help it if anything fouls that process up.
Not to mention Internet Explorer, and Netscape even. Browsers, for the most part, copy content - especially static html pages. It gets copied right into cache.
So it's somehow Verants/Sonys fault that some guy dies due to their game... when this guy should never have been in front of the computer in the first place because of pre-existing health conditions?
989 Studios actually started in 1995, working on a project called 'Turret Syndrome' - a tank-combat RPG. In 1996 they shifted to work on a MMORPG concept - Everquest.
They completed Everyquest in just 3 years time, at double the initial budget. $7 million dollars.
About a year after releasing Everquest, 989 was asked to provide copies of marketing research they did before deciding to go ahead with the project. They admitted that they didn't do any research, because if they had, they would not have been able to justify even making the game.
Costs about $10,000 to startup your own wireless 801.22b ISP - and you can be profitable within months. (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/dslalt)
But thanks for playing. Please drive through.

Linuxbierwanderung would be a wonderful name for a rock band.
..there will be a startup to make a product. Even if it means the end of privacy on the internet. This doesn't surprise me at all.

It's business as usual. Management has to be doing something with their time.
Wow are you gullable.
It was a joke. Get up from your computer, and go outside. Take a break.

Time for them to sue Microsoft.
"If you connect, you get banned."
And? So what?
"I hope Information Wave gets some good legal advice before they start doing this."
ISPs regularly block Asian and other sites because of spam mail. Can't they just say 'We block the RIAA... because we can. We don't need an excuse?'
Dirk
With several wireless APs set in repeater mode.
Easy.
Dirk
I don't think so.
My mp3s sound almost exactly the same as my audio cds, you must have a horrid encoder or don't know what you are doing.
Being able to put 200 songs onto a single cd to play in my car or in my portable cd player rocks.
Dirk
"You wouldn't go around town with a mullet!"
Woah... hang on. Mullets are not in style anymore?!
Yeah, but would that even be effective? It would require the user to type in a url, instead of simply clicking on one.
Dirk
Did you even read the article?
Maybe BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE $300,000 TO PAY A LAWYER to defend against something as stupid as this?
So it's somehow Verants/Sonys fault that some guy dies due to their game... when this guy should never have been in front of the computer in the first place because of pre-existing health conditions?

...and then I'm going to run a script that plays 'Baby Got Back' by Sir Mixalot 50,000 times a day and let it report away.
This is going to be fun!
Dirk
...you better get damn good tech support. I don't expect the same support from a comparable PC at half the cost.
Dirk
With interest on that 40B, they could pay 11K every day and never run out of money.
Hey dimwit, we're not the ones that chose their business model to be built on ads. THEY DID.
"I leave all my doors open and I get ripped off it's MY FAULT."
It is? Wow, what country do you live in?
In mine (the USA) thats illegal and you can go to jail for it.
NASA and other agencies are already tracking all the junk. The problem isn't tracking and ID'ing the junk. The problem is getting it.

My stapler is black. And it says 'STANLEY BOSTITCH' on it.
And I thought I was cool and hip. Now I'm not. Argh.
I was thinking the same thing! I guess ol Tom didn't have the time to go buy a couple.
