It's incredible that complex, multicellular life has evolved from other complex multicellular life
That was pretty much enough for me to consider macro-evolution a valid theory. Of course I was already having doubts about my faith but stuff like this helped a lot to accept that what I was taught all my life as fact was a load of horse-shit.
A lot of people who ask for ever more proof probably aren't going to back down even when you have that proof. They're far too invested in their current beliefs, socially and emotionally. They'd find some way of altering the meaning of their scriptures/whatever so that they can keep on believing what they want to believe and stay accepted within their pseudo-family.
And nowhere did GP mentioned impaired motor skills. Mentions lymphoma, chemo, and "neurotoxicity", and how exercise helped reduce the after effects.
What the fuck do you think neurotoxicity means? I'd never heard the word before but it seemed pretty obvious from the "neuro" and of course the context.
The idea that exercise improves your overall balance and control is simply a fact. Try balancing on one foot for a minute each day and you'll soon start to see improvements. Try a martial art and you'll see even more. Quit being a douche.
But if they don't get the ball in that may just be the fault of the striker. This is just a way to judge how well individual players play. It's easy to judge a striker on how many goals they scored, or a goalie on how many goals were saved, but for other players it's harder to pin down how good the player is simply using statistics.
If you want to judge how good the team is as a whole then counting goals is one way to go about it, but it's obviously a very poor method for ranking individual players..
Had a look at the guy's blog briefly, seems he actually didn't start it until the end of 2008, which is 2 years after the Wii came out.
You sound like all these MS and Sony viral marketers that he talks about
I'm still bemused by this a couple of hours later, considering I didn't mention MS or Sony.. I have always felt pretty negatively towards MS (was really into my Amigas until the late 90s), and I'm fairly neutral about Sony right now (still enjoy my PS3, but hate some of the things they've been doing the last couple of years).
Malstrom is really making life like hell to viral marketers. It's funny to watch them recoil in terror at everything he writes.
What do predictions about what types of games people will enjoy have to do with viral marketing? Aside from the fact that those predictions themselves sound like a form of viral marketing to the people who apparently worship this guy.. do you really think that some random blog that most people have ever heard of will really piss off viral marketers? The basically religious fervour you and the other guy are using when you talk of this blog is just confusing and annoying.. anyone could see when the Wii was launched that non gamer types enjoy simple games. I used to think it pretty sad that my non-gamer friends would love Snake on their mobile so much, compared to the type of stuff I'd play on PC. From the stuff you guys have said so far it doesn't sound like this guy has said anything that isn't already obvious to your average Slashdot reader.. if you want to point me to a specific blog of his that is actually worth reading then I'd have a look, but from what I've read so far of it I don't get it (I admit I don't really enjoy blogs in general anyway).
The guy's blog starts in 2007, the Wii was released in 2006.
So you don't know his blog but you are quick to dismiss it and call people who read it "brainwashed"
Yes, I found it sad that the guy used that phrase, saying his "eyes were opened" makes it sound like he's going from one extreme viewpoint to another instead of just incorporating some interesting new info into his worldview. People are far too quick to polarise everything (quite often myself included, but I try to avoid it when I notice it).
Like I said, it's changing slowly, but they're going to be dragged kicking and screaming the whole way. You're right that anyone with a decent service and products can make a killing, but like someone else said there's a really high barrier to entry too. It took the iPhone to even make phone designers start trying to design proper touch interfaces despite touch phones being out for years prior. The whole software and services side of the mobile market has been crap for the last 20 years, the only decent improvements have been in hardware. It says a lot that the iPhone has done so well despite usually being behind other manufacturers in terms of hardware specs.
If the OS is good enough, one of the phone device manufacturers will leverage that advantage to make a larger profit over the others.
That's like saying that the RIAA will be happy to sell music without DRM. It doesn't matter how good the distribution system (ie the OS in this case), they will still want to try and lock it down. Which is exactly what the phone companies do. They try to lock the phones they sell down to stop you tethering or even using SIMs from other Telcos, etc.
This is slowly changing, but don't act like they would jump on an open system just because it was technically proficient and fun to use. They would add in a whole bunch of restrictions first because they're terrified of losing their business model (hmm, should I sent a text message for £0.10 or an IM for £0.00001p.. difficult choice!).
Just looked it up. I'm Scottish, live in Scotland and always hear people say that the difference in Mac/Mc is important because of the Scots/Irish thing, but according to this article, that's bollocks:
Apparently people at Nintendo are reading his blog, because Nintendo's strategy seems to go in the direction Malstrom points:)
I'm pretty sure the Wii came out before his blog started, and that Nintendo/Sega have been into more casual mini-game style games for a lot longer than the Wii. Saying a blog has "opened your eyes" makes it sound more like you are easily brainwashed.
You know it's quite possible for lots of different types of games to co-exist in the world? Same goes for pretty much everything else in life. You don't always have to artificially split everything into two polar opposites and gather yourself to one side of it. You can enjoy the whole spectrum of experience (yes, slight Donnie Darko reference there but it's a good way of saying it) without making everything into some kind of pathetic fan boi Holy War.
What he has discovered is that it is the PLASMA above the properly charged surface that creates a gravity shielding effect, and shielding includes inversion. Yes, -1g is possible.
Actually most people seem to whine that a Minority Report style UI would probably just tire out your arms really quickly. I do like the system in Iron Man a lot though, hand waving is a lot more suited to 3D than 2D. I guess that's where we're headed in terms of controllers, we still have to do something better about the viewing though.. headsets are probably the easiest way for now, but they aren't exactly mainstream.
Well, I guess I was more thinking of Linux distributions and software that are already designed for massively multicore systems, but on top of that OS you could run many Windows x86 virtual servers..
I couldn't find the phrase "no changes to software" in TFA (no mention even of "software" in fact), but I'm guessing it would mean that since it is still an x86 based system that you can achieve power saving benefits while using any current x86 OSes, rather than say have to rewrite/recompile stuff to run on ARM processors.

your too stupid
I agree with your point, but I think you're making it a bit too easy for anyone who disagrees.
If you're going to make asanine points, at least be correct when you make them
If you're going to try to use the word asinine, at least spell it correctly.
Spelling corrections are easy to come by. Might help next time.

Damnit, where do I train what to do if we're overrun with zombaliens? I already know how to survive after a disaster from playing Fallout 3!

They might as well kill Tim Berners-Lee while they're at it, for facilitating the realisation of Facebook.
It's sad when you see more and more each day that Idiocracy really was more of a prophesy than a comedy.
Where's the moderation system on Facebook?
It would be awesome. "-1 retarded", "-5 bad spelling", "-100 mentions reality TV show" etc

One is Irish, one is Scottish. Can't remember which is which and I don't give a toss because my second name isn't Mc/Mac :P

Except it don't work on water..
oh wait, I guess it depends on whether the butter is facing the cat or not..
I think you'd have to strap the toast to its feet actually
Look at the title..
You don't exactly need a magnifying glass to see the joke..
