With Amazon Prime you get next day delivery on most stuff that's not from 3rd party resellers, it's pretty good. I let my Prime account expire this month though now since most of what I buy these days is from their MP3 store - the rest of the stuff I don't mind waiting an extra couple of days. If I needed something really urgently I could just drive down to PC World of course, but it's rare that something that urgent crops up.. and they're usually more expensive than buying online.
I agree that he should learn to get the stuff himself - if it was me I'd just order it from Amazon or nab an old unused drive from work, depending on how critical the intended application is:P Was just thinking it is interesting to charge for gas but not for the time, which to me at least is much more valuable.
The issue isn't even that they are calling the computer by the wrong name. The issue is that some people call the whole computer by a name that is incorrect but is a valid name for a single component that is part of the computer.
So what you're basically saying, when you get right down to it, at the end of the day, after all is said and done, by the by, that the issue is that they are calling the computer by the wrong name?
So you don't place any value on your time? You could say that you won't charge for time because it's your friend, but in that case you probably wouldn't charge for gas either.. I get paid a lot more per hour than I would use up in fuel on an average drive..
Don't get me wrong, I like Ubuntu and have it running on a home system. But unless a major manufacturer starts preinstalling it it's going to be confined to the Linux enthusiast and the hobbyist market.
Is Dell not a major manufacturer? This seems like pure flamebait, or perhaps just extremely ignorant journalism.
You managed to spell the rest of your comment correctly, so was this just a Freudian slip or do you want to enlighten us as to the details of this horrific biological state?
He said "if.. and", not just "if". It was a purely hypothetical situation, not a question. We all know that selling one $200 console is not going to recoup development and manufacturing costs.
You must be some kind of genius! I would like to subscribe to your newsletter so that I don't miss out on any more of your amazing insights which completely miss the point.

No no, he said it's "virtually 100% secure", in the same way that I'm virtually a demi-god dwarf thief who destroys his foes by injecting flaming marshmallows up their ass.
Use Adblock to block ads, and noscript to block scripts. I used to have both, but as you say it ends up just being a pain navigating to a new site, wondering why something isn't working and then remembering about noscript (some poorly designed pages won't render at all without javascript..). but Adblock is enough for me by itself.
Yes, I didn't say that I know 100% would get there, but I do have faith that they would try their best as generally only a certain type of person becomes a fireman (added to the fact that they have a good record in the past like you say).
I know that faith is simply a belief, but most non religious types seem to think faith is entirely to do with existence. Even if people knew for sure that some kind of god existed, it would still be possible to choose to worship him and place your faith in him (presumably for getting to heaven or whatever, that seems to be the usual type of reward). Even if we knew that many gods existed you could still choose to put faith in one to the exclusion of others, or mix and match, etc
Damnit, I hope my house never catches on fire. The fact that I know the fire service exists means that I can no longer have any faith in them to come to my aid.
Oh wait, this whole "you can only have faith in something you don't know to exist" thing I keep hearing is a load of bollocks, phew. Notice even the bible says that demons can believe in god existing but not be saved. Faith is separate from knowledge of existence. I think you need some more plausible reasons for why your god doesn't make it apparent that he exists.
Not really - how much money you have is an important variable in the equation of how much time and resources you have to do the other things that you consider important. He didn't say that it was the most important, just that it's up there. Anyone who has to work 2 or 3 jobs just to keep their family surviving would probably agree that money is very important. It's only those who make enough that they don't have to worry about money that consider it unimportant.
I started wondering that too after I noticed the abbreviation was DNF.. what a shame.. this is one game I'd have actually bothered to reinstall Windows for.
merely growing more copies of your own organs for use later. I could deal with that.
I'm glad to hear you say that, because in fact you are one of my clone army and I've just found out that one of my kidneys is on the fritz. I will be round to harvest your organs tomorrow;)
Yep I've mainly used my PSP as an MP3 player and portable TV (watching TV in bed, streamed from PlayTV on my PS3). Games and even UMDs can be bought v cheap these days, but I'm not often in a situation where I can make good use of mobile gaming capabilities.. the most I'm sitting down for outside of my house is maybe 10 minutes waiting for takeaway.. only usually enough for one full mission/race in your average game.
I did wonder if it was something like that, but if you can create a bash script then you can also create a logon script: use something like
net use U:/del net use P:/del net use U: \\MY_SERVER\users net use P: \\MY_other_server\public
in your Windows logon script then it will auto-mount the drives (without any annoying messages resulting from a persistent share not being able to find the network path when you're not on the Uni network). We use that kind of thing in our logon scripts at work.

Look again, the post that you were replying to when I replied to you said
If they sold 1 unit and made a profit then it would be a success.

It won't, but it is definitely a way out.
You obviously haven't met my mother in law!
Only kidding - I don't have a mother in law, but I should maybe get one just so that I can make jokes like this without having to backpedal.
There is no other way out.
I don't know, suicide worked pretty well for me - you should try it!

I always troll the ATI forums
Heh heh.. I assume you meant trawl but it kinda works with either word ;)

I thought lightening came under theft
