That's pretty cool, though I remembered specifically reading a page before where the guy mentioned a few different theories as to what people thought xkcd meant, and I don't remember seeing the 42 thing there, but maybe it was.. I just randomly thought of it in the shower, which seems to be the place where I do my best thinking:p
My expectations were a realistic look and more of a simulation type game, and they turned it into a cartoony styled game. I don't see how that is so hard to understand - it's simply not what I expected, so it doesn't meet my expectations.
Meh fair enough then. Just because they are next to each other doesn't mean that you can't take the sum total of the individual letters while you're having a shower and discover that they add up to 42. I suspected it for some weird reason, then tried and it worked, and I at least thought it was pretty cool, but some people just want to be jerks. Or maybe I was taking the original AC too seriously.
yeah I'm sure he would o_0 pfft. He's already said it has no meaning, I just think it's cool that they add up to it. He'd probably be more disgusted with you being a jerk tbh.
Yeah I got it as part of the gold pack or whatever it's called, just haven't made time to play it (same as I only ever played Portal during one lunch break so I haven't completed it:O ).
Now we have it and can improve on false convictions and you don't want to use it? Yep, you appear to have noticed modern man's false convictions:P Lots of whining about stuff but try and do something about it and people are all "do not want!".. meh
That machinehead video "isn't available in my country" (UK) apparently, but I jus ran a search for them and I like their singing/music in 'Bush'.. good stacatto rhythm mixed with flowing melodies:) Should probably get one of their albums!
Well the few maiden songs that I have heard all seem to be very long with pointless solos (I remember seeing one of their concerts on MTV2 and it just seemed to be endless widdly solos that were going nowhere.. that was like 9 years ago now though so maybe I'd be able to appreciate them more now. You could say the same about Metallica too but dunno I just find their music more interesting. Actually watching your video there one of the main factors is that I just don't like the guy's vocals. I mean mixing Axel Rose style high pitched stuff (Axel probably came after but you know what I mean) with lyrics that are meant to be spooky or whatever.. just doesn't do it for me. The Metallica guy gets away with it because he's more of a growler.
I had also recently lumped Van Halen with Iron Maiden in the same 'crazy widdly guitar solos for no reason' category. but after hearing my flatmate play them in his car and realising that the riff from "Aint Talkin Bout Dub" was a Van Halen song, I gave them a listen and I quite like their stuff now. Some really good riffs in there, and Learn To See is one of my favourite songs now (I especially like the drums with the triple bass kick). Iron Maiden have a song on Guitar Hero III and it was far more simple than I expected (though still quite frantic), but I just find all the "six.. six six!" bullshit a bit much when mixed with a screamy girly singer. The actual music was okay.
lol.. FPSes are FPSes, racing games are racing games, Tetris is Tetris.. pong is pong.. good old games are still good. Games have been getting more story driven and have more realistic physics/shiny graphics but that's about it.
Team Fortress 2 was in development hell for 9 years. Not only did it live up to the expectations, it exceeded them. Pfft.. it didn't meet my expectations - I wasn't expecting a cartoony game. It probably is a lot of fun but I was looking forward to the realistic feel of the early TF2 screenshots (the ones on the original HL engine). I still intend to play it at some point but after having played Team Fortress for Quake, Quake 3 and Half-Life then I'm not expecting it to be much different. I did play it offline for a couple of minutes when the beta was out.
I'm not much into the crazy stupid stuff like Iron Maiden, but some Metallica can actually be pretty good - the only album I have is S&M though, which is them playing along with an orchestra, which obviously helps to make the whole thing more majestic and refined. Not all their songs are just them thrashing away at 180bpm:P The band members do seem to be dicks though.
or.. time of day, mac address, any number of other things.. how much faster would a brute force attack be even knowing what they used as salt? Probably not significantly different (ie I'm guessing it would still be more than your lifespan with current tech)
Don't you have to conduct the heat to the liquid before it boils?

Actually now that I read my sig it does sound stupid, maybe I should say 'adds up to', but I was trying to make it more like the Ultimate Question

More that there may or may not be a release of a commercial Unix OS isn't news.
In other news, NASA may or may not decide to demo a Death Star next week.
I'm more of a tenant
Have fun with the clap!
Only kidding. My sisters are actually men though. Seriously. Even the married one.

Apple are still only on X? They've got a long way to go before they catch up with X11!
Awesome idea :)
Now I can easily listen to Jihzhong Serve The Country, and "Sorry I Love You" without paying!!
I thought that radio stations had to pay license/broadcast fees and that would cover the whole music playing thing (depending on the license)?
Mod parent +1 Ironic!

Oh wait.. the band is Bush and the song is Machinehead.. duh xD

Wha? Why, when you have PS3 Ubuntu with gcc + source? Unless you're desperate to run it standalone
