That used to be the idea, but Sony have stopped doing backwards compatibility. So far as I can see, the idea of the PS4 just seems to be updated graphics, controller, and social media integration.

What's to stop you keeping your PS3 around as a media player? I wonder if the PS3 remotes will work for PS4s too.

I had a PS4 pre-order for a while. I cancelled it because likely all the games I enjoy will be out on PS3 for a good while anyway. And while AC4 does look very pretty on PS4, it's "good enough" for me on PS3 right now. I'll probably get a PS4 once it comes down to around 250GBP.

While I rarely do it, I did actually play an audio CD on my PS3 last week too. Alongside my desktop PC, it's the only device in my house that can play them now.

In addition to the other guy's comment, spotify pays around half a cent per streamed track. So currently the answer seems to be "yes". Which is kind of absurd, but interesting. There are lots of shady ways to make money though. Probably best not to think too much about them.

An advert for what? For getting people to listen to their music? That they can already listen to on Spotify. Not that many artists are better live than on their CDs. I'm happy to go to shows when people invite me, but I don't look them out myself. Listening to music while I work/drive/chill is all I need really.

That's correct, but it doesn't mean that there shouldn't be regulations to at least try to improve safety. Hey let's just forget about driving licenses all together, why don't we? Who gives a shit if someone can't tell where there attention should be, and why, when they're driving?

Do you seriously believe that "right to travel" means "right to drive", or "right to fly a helicopter" and that kind of thing?

Freedom of movement, mobility rights or the right to travel is a human right concept that the constitutions of numerous states respect. It asserts that a citizen of a state in which that citizen is present has the liberty to travel, reside in, and/or work in any part of the state where one pleases within the limits of respect for the liberty and rights of others,[1] and to leave that state and return at any time.

there are some houses near me that are only accessible by Interstate

It seems rather unlikely that you couldn't get to those places by foot. But why would someone who can't drive even buy their house there? Are taxis unavailable in your area? You're right that holding the phone doesn't technically present a danger - but how do you know whether that person is holding their phone to text, check Facebook, on speakerphone, etc. What other reason is there even to have a phone in your hand while driving, other than actually using it? Better to just make it illegal to have the phone in your hand while driving, otherwise it will lead to people being sneaky.

I sometimes use my phone while sat in traffic, but if I get caught then it's my own fault..

I think since it could potentially save a lot of money on damages to public roads, cars, buildings, etc, that it probably would be used. It could even be funded by local insurance companies.

The proposed move also has caught the attention of some in the think tank and consulting worlds. Dan Goure of the Lexington Institute, is as unimpressed with the idea as Forbes.

âoeThe decision to eliminate [Net Assessment] might make sense were it an expensive endeavor, employing a large staff that might be better deployed elsewhere,â he wrote.

The Net Assessment office is less than a dozen people, tiny when compared with the rest of the Pentagon sweeping bureaucracy, Goure noted.

âoeIts budget is a few million dollars annually, much of that devoted to outside studies and analyses, he wrote. âoeYou wouldnâ(TM)t save enough from this action buy even one tactical fighter. Furthermore, the loss of the intellectual energy NA provides at a critical time for the Pentagonâ(TM)s future could have negative effects far outweighing the utility of the few dollars that would be saved.â

Sounds ass backwards to me. I think the military need to do more thinking, and less invading.
