Why does this guy keep going to governments for funding? They have too many interests pulling them all over. Wouldn't it be better to strike a deal with an energy company? Go talk to Shell, or Exxon. This technology might take 30 years to create easily deployable power plant modules. That's about the time that we'll be down to sucking fumes out of the ground in reallyremotistan. Whatever company has a solid piece of energy technology under their belt when that time comes will win.
I can't imagine losing a couple mil towards this guy to either prove or disprove the tech would put a dent in any company's bottom line. Make a contract where if he screws up he spends the rest of his life scrubbing oil tar out of supertanker holds.
He's probably crazy. But there's a slim chance he might be right.
Now, that's a pretty rough translation of the first point into simple Jersey. I haven't taken the technical/medical Jersey course yet so I can't translate some of the more obtuse bits. I hear that Guernsey is a little more suited to expressing computer science topics but I can't find a teacher.
Well, you could have a deadly cancerous mass but my screen is scratched so I can't tell. We'll have to wait for a real diagnosis. Would you like to spend what could be the remaining minutes of your life watching an episode of "Lost"?
Holograms, baby. Oh yeah. You'd be "King Alpha Geek the Undateable" if you managed to pull that off.
For even more entertainment value, have a chalkboard on hand as well. Grab an audience and try to work through the math of the hologram after a dozen cups of whatever alcoholic elixir is sublimating CO2 in the corner. The drunken kibitzing and candy corns bouncing off the slate next to your head will be among your most treasured memories.
Didn't MySQL say things like "we'll never try to be ACID compliant" and "stored procedures and triggers are for people who don't know what their doing"? Do they enjoy the flavor when they eat their own words?
If only the companies that produce the crappy middleware I'm obligated to run would deign to bless it for use with their product. Everything I've installed lately has demanded the 10 ton pig that is Oracle even though they don't use any fancy features.
As far as I can tell, no Dell really "comes with Windows" these days. There is usually some approximation of Windows installed on the hard drive but no Windows media. You get a hardware-restricted OEM license and no tangible product.
Does Dell even still give you a "restore CD", or do they rely on some hidden partition on the hard drive to hold the image?
Is there some current game that demands that much performance? Once you're gaming at 100fps 1600x1200 with all the bells and whistles, why do you need a new card (or pair of cards)?
Is there some game in the pipes that will actually use all the fancy features that these cards have?
If I was searching for a word that meant "a common set of terms used to describe a domain", I personally would have used the word "lingo". I guess it's just not as cool as overloading "ontology".
I don't pirate music. I don't buy much music period. I still think the RIAA is evil. Why?
* They want to shut down P2P networks that I use for other purposes (ISOs, mostly) * They want to insert themselves in my computer to make sure I'm obeying the law * They want to obsolete my CD player by making non-compliant discs * They want me to pay a tax on blank media, because I am obviously infringing copyright with it * They want to restrict my fair use of music that I purchase
I am obeying the law. I am respecting copyrights. I am remunerating the music companies and the artists for their work. Why am I treated like a criminal?
If I never listen to music, why should the music industry be allowed to affect other parts of my life? If I don't buy stuff from Wal-Mart, should they come after me with legislation hindering my daily activities?
I am paying for the privilege of not being surrounded by slack-jawed morons with not a whit of education to their name. I am also paying for the privilege to deal almost exclusively with people who learned to cope with a forced social setting. Even if I do not partake of the educational services offered in my district directly, I indirectly benefit from it every time I interact with the world around me.
Yes, I aware of the state of public education (in the US) today. Everything I said is true, in theory. It is the execution that leaves a lot to be desired.
Where I come from, we routinely have periods of darkness called "night". We are in the process of eliminating all pools of darkness with megawatt street lights, but it is slow going.
one.. But NOW.. nope!" are astounding.. If you don't have one already, I don't get the feeling you were about to sign up anytime soon.. What else did the box need to do for you - produce gold?
Ummm... maybe I want a Tivo unit that can record OTA HDTV (without being a satellite receiver)? Maybe with more than one tuner?
I would love to buy a Tivo and bask in its gentle glory. But they haven't put out a compelling enough hardware product, yet. Since they canned any plans for resurrecting the HD Tivo, I'm out of luck.
Buy iPod nano. Buy 5 cents of sticky velcro. Attach to existing phone.
Pros: Listening to tunes won't drain your phone battery. Doesn't cost 250 USD (only 200). Doesn't tie you to Cingular for 2 years. About as thick as older phone models. Holds 5 times the songs. Can be undone at any time.
Cons: Applying sticky substance to shiny new iPod. Everyone will point and laugh.

Don't worry, I'm sure Batman can foil any would be evildoers.

Off-Topic, but you might want to check out:o ns.html

It lists Linux 64-bit operation on AMD64/EMT64 processors as of Java 5 update 2.
This wouldn't have anything to do with having a big wad of cash forcibly extracted by an Eolas patent, would it?
...instant censorship. Wow. What an age we live in. At least in the _Fahrenheit 451_ the people torching the books had the decency to do it person.

A door and the will to use it.
Seriously, go. Experience.
At the very least get one or two other people who share your passion and make room for them in your coding shrine.
