When I purchased my PS2 I did so primarily to use it as a dvd player. Having all the living room devices in one box is very attractive to me. My only concern with PS3 is that it is highly likely Sony's PS3 DRM will be very aggressive and so limit the devices useability that its feature set will be largely crippled..... DRM is the enemy.
I don't understand the obsesion with E3. I have had to attend E3 every year for 7 years straight and I dread it with all my soul. I generally avoid the place as much as possible and only pop in for the meetings I have to attend. I do get plenty of business accomplished at the show, but dread the noise, crowds, and general additude of the average show floor attendee.
Honestly, I never really cared about the booth babes... well except for the ones that impersonated real game characters. I always enjoyed those. But, hopefully this change will help reduce the number of random traffic jams caused by idiots gathering around some sad model waiting to get a snapshot. what is the point of that?
I jumped out of this game the week the hologrind started. I just packed up my stuff logged out and cancelled. I thought I would come back when they fixed it or released the space expansion. But everytime I checked up on the game it seemed like it was just bogged down by the same types of problems.
I finally was going to play to check out the space update, but when I tried to check my account I found that it had been deleted... end of story.
He so deserves a serious reprimand from the bar. He actively abuses his "power" as a lawyer. That much is obvious by hi rampant threats to sue anyone who breathes in his direction. If anyone brings "lawyers" into illrepute it is this man.
The fact that consumers won't be able to get their hands on this immediatly is secondary to reaction they will get from publishers with an innability to quickly ramp install base and help them get some ROI in Q4
It is the media that has made E3 such the bother that it has become. I have been forced to attend E3 for 7+ years. It is a circus. Over the years I have completely given up on trying to have any kind of productive meeting at the show and have just played meet and greet to set-up business meetings for the weeks following.
Seeing some of the new titles is exciting, but dampened by the fact that you have to push and shove your way thru thousands of press who act like they have an exclusive right to be in attendance. The majority of gaming press is completely amateur and genrally just rude.
The only event I despise more than E3 is CES... but that is becuase I can't stand the idea of pushing thru 150K - 200k people.
eSport/pro-gaming is not very mainstream in US nor in most of the world.
A sponsorship of a top team in Korea is as valuable as sposnoring a top sports team. The events and teams have extremely good coverage in the press and the events themselves are often very well attended by supporters of the various teams. Sponsorships of individuals and teams in Korea are big money deals. Koreans look at esport on the same level many americans look at things such as College football.
In the US, there is no real coverage of the events outside of the esport scene itself. Most mainstream media use the esport stories as a kind of "news of the wierd". I am not sure where most corporate sponsors are seeing a return on there investment. Every pro team proposal from the US I have ever seen has been practicaly empty regarding real marketing value (except for a few really well organized teams like 3D).
I recently saw that Tylenol is now sponsoring a team that they have named "Ouch!". It makes no sense.

"Well Kept Secret" is not an Oxymoron. Just saying.
