Because there are many unexplainable things about Evolution where "scientists" just make things up to help the theory go along. It takes just as much, if not more, faith to believe that every living thing on the planet grew from a single bacterium than it does to believe in a god creating everything.
"Keep the church crowd within the churches, and leave the universities and schools alone!"
Yes, because religion is evil and people that have a religion (other than Islam or Evolution) shouldn't be allowed to have an education. *note sarcasm*
Why does South Korea or anyone else care if an OS comes with software to run media and for IM? Most people out there would be pissed if they got an OS that didn't do those things right out of the box (literal or metaphorical box). Really, is it that hard to go *click-click* and get Real Player or iTunes or whatever media player you want? It takes about 2 minutes to find, download, install, and set up AIM. Hell, there are even ways to remove Windows Messenger (I hate that damn thing) -- takes 20 seconds.......maybe less. So basically, the lawsuits are because people are too damn lazy to take 5 minutes to customize their OS after they install it.
First, I do not say that species do not adapt, but that a dinosaur or a person doesn't grow out of an ameobae by pure chance.
Second, if you want a good easy explanation for why the myth of evolution is total bullshit, check out the concept of "irreducible complexity". Darwin himself even said "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down". Well, modern science has provided us with the ability to see such things such as flagellum, which disprove Darwin.
Also, if you want to discuss life spans, the thing I hate most about life is how short our lives are. It's pretty much pointless to do anything because only a handful of people around the world in a generation will actually make a lasting impact on the world. Human life is essentially pointless because 100 years isn't enough time to truly accomplish anything. By the time you get sufficient education for multiple doctorates to acheive something great, you have about 20 years or so before you begin the downfall into retirement, senility, and death.
As to my knowledge, they have yet to find fossils of the "half-breed" (for lack of a better term) creatures that were part this and part that. If they found one of these supposed creatures, then we would have that "link" proving that one thing did in fact evolve into another completely different thing.
I've heard lots of "evidence" such as "there are fish....and there are dogs....and there are preople -- evolution exists!!!!" and all sorts of ridiculous unprovable claims. I'm taking botanty, microbiology, and zoology right now and have yet to see anything that convince me of evolution. I have no problem believing in it -- if they'd just give me some solid undisputable proof (though statisically speaking evolution is possible, yet HIGHLY unlikely given the age of the earth).
Wait, let me get this straight. You're saying that to avoid "religious fundamentalism" they should go to Europe (where they're having so many issues with the onslaught of fundamentalist Muslims)?
As for "aggregate spending by religious extremist rednecks" -- most rednecks are poor, and just because someone doesn't agree with the myth of evolution doesn't mean that they're religious. It just means that they want irrefutable proof of something before they'll call it a "fact".
Judges have ruled repeatedly that EULA's are not legally binding since virtually no one reads them. Besides, trying to write in a clause saying that you can't be stopped from doing something illegal won't hold up in court.
It's physically impossible to write a 'perfect' OS. OS X can get screwed with spyware (thanks to widgets), I've seen Linux crash, and I've also seen Windows XP Pro run rock solid for 3 years (only re-booting when necessary for updates). It's impossible to take into account all of the different possibilities for hardware and software or how new software could have flaws that screw with the system. Until new hardware and software stop being designed, it'll be impossible to make a perfect OS -- and we all know that technology always keeps moving forward.
They didn't "omit" them, the kind of people who read Tom's Hardware reuse old machines to build new ones, and therefore have a keyboard, mouse, speakers, case, and OS already sitting at their desk.
And when I can go to the store and buy a game that runs on Windows and Linux, I'll start using Linux as my main OS. Also, reliable drivers for new hardware (video cards mainly) would be another thing that needs working on.
Wanna know why I *need* MS? Cuz I'm a gamer, and few games (especially not new ones) run on linux. I don't give a crap what I use to type up a doc, send email, or surf the web -- I'm going to use the OS that runs my games.
Actually, the 'cruel and unusual punishment' part was referring to cases such as when a man was skinned alive in the colonies during the 1600's or 1700's -- today they have a rather skewed idea of 'cruel', though depending on what medical research is being done on them it could legitimately be cruel.

Anything anti-Christian on /. gets modded insightful.

Some games you can, but not all. Also, I've yet to see it marked on a box for any game that it runs on linux.

Uh.......if you like big sagas, then how can you NOT like Harry Potter? Few other stories have been on the same scale as Harry Potter.

Even in the books I always felt that all of the characters in LOTR were underdeveloped. Maybe R.A. Salvatore and J.K. Rowling have spoiled me?
