I love Slashdot. Anytime something goes wrong, we've got 1,000,000,000 geeks running to correct it. Anyone seen PCU? Here's the analogy: clueless idiot (the bad company) accidently trips over the server box (does some stupid action). Then, 1,000,000,000 people chase after him (the Slashdot community) to avenge what's right. Most of the time, that I've seen anyhoo, after being 'Slashdotted,' the company buckles under when confronted with it's own stupidity.
Gotta Love Slashdot!
I'm sorry. What I meant to say was 'please excuse me.' what came out of my mouth was 'Move or I'll kill you!'
just wishful thinking, really. I've got a Yamaha PCI Soundcard, an XG-DG or some such...sounds GREAT in Window$, but the only support via Linux is thru OSS from 4front. So for now, I'm stuck with my SB16 PNP. Oh, anyway, I'd like to see more support for multimedia hardware. Like my card. Esp. my card (: Northeast USA Computer Show Schedule http://www.vermontel.com/~vengnce/shows
I won't tell you which two resistors to replace with lower values to increase the output power, because I'd get in trouble and you can easily guess which two they are.
I don't see how you'd get in trouble. If you were using one of these devices, perhaps. But showing someone how to make one of their own? Not a chance.
I don't know much about electronics. I can solder, tho. So which two resistors is it? (: Northeast USA Computer Show Schedule http://www.vermontel.com/~vengnce/shows
I must disagree: my granparents have 'net access, and use it to email all us little grandkids. It's one of the best ways to (almost) instantly keep in touch!
Email is really prevailant now. You can get a Hotmail acct, and check your mail that way (as long as you can find a computer somewhere with 'net access. But again, it's really good for small notes, but the USPS is here, 'cause I don't see Bell Atlantic emailing me my phone bill anytime soon (although my ISP does;) Northeast USA Computer Show Schedule http://www.vermontel.com/~vengnce/shows
So what do those of us do that don't actually have Window to install? Now, we all know that it's particularly easy to get 'ahold' of a Win9x CD, but then it wouldn't be 'legal', would it?
Besides, the idea here is easy: it's discrimination, plain and simple.

I hardly think you can compare IDE hard drives with winmodems. Winmodems are bastardized pieces of garbage. IDE....well, it's not SCSI, but they're still cool (for the price, that is)
I work at a book printing company, and had the opportunity to browse through this book. Indeed, this basically states that we're all going to die, unless we prepare. And it's the woman's job to do so.
On another note, the book does give some excellent pointers on food preservation, how to store water & food without it spoiling, and some other good stuff. But the book in itself is frightening.
I was thinking of putting it out on the Net, but due to creeping featurism the code is embarassing.:) (That and I find little time to fix things that aren't quite broken)
Isn't that the point of the open source initiative? To release the code so others can have a crack at it, to iron out all these bugs? I say 'release the code!'
You've still got to consider the US$2.00 shipping fee for anything under 100 pieces. Still not bad, because it's _really cool_. But I would still get a few friends together and order a few. Or, you could get them, and give them to your Linux friends as a 'suprise'. (Now why couldn't I find _this_ before xmas? I ended up getting everyone Linux CD's...cool gift, but this is better...)
I've painted almost every case I've ever had, simply for the asthetics of it. My current case is green with silver 'marble' streaks running thru it. If I'm going to sit at my desk and work, I'm going to do it and have something pleasing to look at!
Forbidden donut....
Yee cats, but it's tiny. Such tech must be put to good use. So....um...send me a few, and I'll see what I can do (8

Now the Seti webmaster will have to reinstall the whole system.
No...it was backed up, remember? As index.html.old
Besides, now the site _will_ be stronger because they'll patch their security holes.

What? I can't remember anyone saying that, except Lisa, who only said it to make Bart feel better.
I belive you're correct.

At First Run Video. Didn't know what it was when I saw it, but will probably invest the $2.99 to see it. Why not?
