Ok, I'll bite and play DA for a bit.

    Why Google wouldn't want this:
    1) Google's own patents on search techniques, distributing advertisement, etc. Yes, I understand that you are talking about the need for certain limits to patent law - but this could as easily hurt Google as help them.
    2) They are already challenging the copyright laws with GooTube, I don't see any sense in tackling both at the same time.

IANIGHQ (In Google's HQ) but I don't see the value of getting sued at this point in time. Besides, if Google is doing this under appropriate conditions there shouldn't be concern of suits - but I suppose their Chinese plagiarism case doesn't support this point.

I realize that these pigeons could travel down the tubes, but this could create severe blockages of their own. The only benefit I can see is that the pigeon would die in a gaseous environment which could signal a pending DoS attack - or depending how far the infrastructure a Distributed DoS (DDoS) attack.

Private members' bills almost never come up for a first vote, let alone a second or final one. They almost never pass. I can count on one hand the number of these bills that passed in the last parliamentary session, and they were mostly ceremonial.

This has no chance. Is that the left or right hand? You never know with the Conservatives^W Alliance Party.

Interesting idea, look how well it is working for M$ and SCO. M$ isn't tied to the rise and fall of SCO.

There are two issues with this though:
    1) Google has no incentive to continue on the fight, other than their own personal liability on Google Video, and considering it is almost the same thing you may as well own the other company. In the M$ SCO case, it's plaintiff not defendant that M$ is supporting.
    2) Iff Google spent a tonne of cash on YouTube in defence and won, YouTube would undoubtedly be worth a lot more and likely be a prime candidate for purchase as their liability aspects had been tried out in court.

Apple's OS X (and Microsoft Windows) is like Doritos (yum, Doritos). Doritos arrive fully loaded. Now, if you really want, you can load MORE stuff unto the Dorito by dipping it, and you can even scrape away some of the cheese-like topping, but not much. Most people eat Doritos right out of the bag and do not dip or top. That's why you buy a Dorito. After all, if you wanted to top it yourself, you'd buy corn chips.
    Dear Sir,

Please do not mention food this near to dinner time, all this talk of:
    Doritos,
    Cheese,
    Popcorn,
    Dip,
    Corn Chips,
    Stuff, and
    Apples
    Is making me really hungry.

Not to mention that a car analogy is probably more effective - leather package, aftermarkets, etc.
