Wow, all my mod points to you. Very insightful. I would like to take it a step further along the same vein if i may...

The only way this can change is if government get involved by having their standards bodies declare actual legal standards that are enforced. We have millennia of experience showing that this is the only approach that actually gives us a useful standard.

This shouldn't just apply to HTML and web standards but to the internet and its accesibility as a whole. With the the Wiki Leaks saga, recent uprising in Tunisia and now in Egypt and the latter cutting off internet access to the country. Its time the goverment designates a Web body that not only is responsible and part of an international group that promotes and sets standards, but gurantees access, freedom of expression and the inherent right to be allowed access to this medium. The internet is proving too valuable and something must be done. I'm thinking a department more in the vein of the EFF and not some bureaucratic quagmire. Idk, maybe it's just wishful thinking right now....

Why does the phone have to be locked to a specific carrier and why the hell can't i develop my own apps and put them on the phone? I really am disgusted with the way Apple goes about this, and for as much as i love the iphone and it's design i sincerely hope someone comes out and kicks it off the playing field. Apple is an ass. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you've said my friend. In a nutshell you're saying corporations should be responsible and liable for damages and problems they cause that disrupt our natural habitat and basic needs for living. China is in the midst of becoming a industrialized and economic world power. They want to be - and are on their way to becoming - the next United states. However, I highly doubt they are going to thwart economic progress by making it more difficult for foreign investors (that's technically what these corps are) to set up shop and do business there. As it stands look at the current BP crisis we've literally been letting them get away with murder and what has the current administration done. Not much. Water wars will be a way of life in the future, there is no doubt about that and until we start holding corporations responsible for their actions nothing will change.

It's not a resource availability problem: it's an infrastructure problem.

This applies to our "energy crisis" as well.
