Our users with laptops don't keep any of their files on the system... for that matter, neither do most of our users with desktops.
Our laptop users log into terminal services through any Internet connection they want, access their files through a fileserver mapped to "My Documents", and access SQL as a system DSN. We encourage them to use their laptops and systems for checking Outlook and browsing the Internet when the need arises, but Terminal Services handles our remote file issues very well.
"Tell me that in 15 years when England is a Police State.
When your women wear barcodes.
When your Liberals lie dead in the streets.
When your Non-Christians serve as torches for the sport of the followers of Jesus.
When the DMCA and Patriot Act are the Law of the Land, and the Magna Carte and Constitution are no more.
Then Tell my your way of life is not under threat."
It is not a derivative work, because the source code for DOSBox is not in any part of the source code for the games that are being released to run with it.
The way it's being described by the OP would make it so that every bit of software that ever ran on Linux would have to be open sourced and GPLed. This is not the case.
The home/home office "New Inspiron" is a relabeled Vostro with nifty colors. They still seem to have the standard 1501 on their site, but I don't see that lasting as special deals on the new line start to come out.
The Inspiron Desktops are also relabeled Vostros. They're all the same newer hardware, but the home/home office ones still get crapware.
While that was quite funny, I live in town and work at the University. To outsiders, it can be hard to differentiate, but it has been said that Lawrence, Kansas, is 27 square miles of open and progressive thinking surrounded by Kansas.
I think it's kinda funny that it doesn't seem odd to you to suggest that we should fix a problem regarding the discontinuation of a 5 year old HDD interface through the use of 30 year old technology...
I think we all knew what you meant, but for some reason I just thought this was really funny.

Because the world needs yet another open source [browser, window manager, package management system, text editor, torrent client, ftp client, full distro, etc.]. In the world of Idealists someone needs to be pragmatic. Find an existing [browser, window manager, package management system, text editor, torrent client, ftp client, full distro, etc.] that gives you 99% of what you want. You'll find that you don't need the other 1%.
In all directions.
I have to wonder... am I the only one that saw the word BETA on the download? People's mothers won't be reporting bugs on the software because people's mothers SHOULDN'T BE BETA TESTING. Those who find bugs in the software in its current form, because it is a beta, are bound by industry standard practice to report those bugs to the vendor, not hold them in some secret report to be exposed to the public later. If your company policy forbids you from telling the vendor what the bugs you've found are due to some past experience with their customer service, you shouldn't be evaluating their BETA SOFTWARE.
Am I completely off base here? Has the IT industry changed the way it operates overnight?
Interesting. I tend to think that if global thermonuclear war did ensue and destroy everyone that something better than humankind would then have room to spring up in our place. Sounds like an accurate analogy to me....
That idea makes sense, but it doesn't seem to correspond to the frequency of deja vu in younger vs. older people. Perhaps if this is true, then the feeling of deja vu is just something that one becomes so accustomed to that they feel it less and less as time goes by?
To extend your argument, this would be more like allowing the power company to charge you more for using a Kenmore as opposed to a Fridgidaire, but not because it consumes more power... just because it is that brand.

Fixed that for you.

Those hungry officials would soon find themselves bloated.

Nah... It's because they're red. Everyone knows that red LEDs consume less power and last longer than green or blue LEDs...
Though red LEDs also usually imply lower production quality. Perhaps that's why the light side Jedis always win.
With the popularity of Gmail, I wonder if they'd do the same thing....
..Blackmail....
Wow.
The Inspiron line has been killed off to be replaced by Vostro... a new series of business laptops that come by default without crapware installed.

Sound familiar?
How much are you offering? I've always wanted to try shredding a DVD....
Something's telling me that 235 software patents would disagree.
That is, of course, until the technical solution becomes illegal, due to somebody's political solution to some other problem...

Just an additional half step in making all those stupid "Don't download DVD's because it's stealing" advertisements actually hold truth...
What's to stop dialup providers from doing this?
