No, Bush slams will start becoming old after he's out of office, until then it's current events and you really can't help that. Making fun of the president is a long, proud tradition and isn't likely to stop.
I started having homework due every single day in kindergarten, we had a homework assignment every night just like for the rest of my life. Sure they were menial but it was kindergarten so it took a fairly long time each night. Even then I remember waiting till the last minute to do it all the time, usually waiting till later at night. What amazes me is people who have ever not had homework all the time. I honestly think I'd enjoy school if it were completely self contained and i didn't have to worry about it after it let out.
The closest I ever got to that was senior year of high school, when I took fluff classes, like AP Psychology, AP Language, AP computer Science, Electrical Systems, Trig, and a Music Production Internship, As well as doing college applications.
I would love to know what not having homework is like.
You're missing the third horse in the race, the unicorn that does everything out of the box and never breaks.
Yes I'm a Mac whore, but its only because there's a mac and a PC in front of me.
I couldn't believe how long it took for this to get mentioned. My 2.0 1st Gen 1Gb MacBook takes literally 1 second to begin running from a lid closed state. I actually don't really know how long it takes to boot really because most of the time I reboot its updating firmwares or such stuff. Though I did use Window's Hibernate on my PC for years. It would always crash from time to time, and the worst part was the BIOS booting up... I must've just had bad hardware with that, but the times were terrible. I've never seen a PC come out of a hibernate in a single second.
I mean that editing the wikipedia is much easier than creating a webpage, finding hosting, managing the hosting, paying for bandwidth, and getting the page found among the billions of other pages. Wikis provide an incredibly simple way to add your knowledge to the internet.
The Internet isn't nearly as easy to edit at the wikipedia. There is to my knowledge no way for a person to make a web page easily, free, and anonymously. The wikipedia does give you the option to make a page on anything easily.
This is of course mostly an issue for the less technologically inclined, but those are the people who could be contributing more to the internet with their useful internet unrelated knowledge.
Just yesterday one of our terrible public access TV stations was broadcasting the CheckDisk screen for Win 98/ME, which at first made me laugh, but then it just made me cry. I mean I know the station doesnt have any money whatsoever, but you'd think they'd at least have a couple hundred dollars laying around to upgrade the 4 year old dell running the station.
Just to let people know from those on the front line, since I'm one of the "high schoolers" analyzed (I use quotes because most people taking the SAT with writing are now college freshmen, or working at McDonalds)
When you take the SAT with writing, the writing section is murder because its testing you on grammar, which is no longer a class at any point in primary, or secondary education. Then comes the essay section, which is usually a fluffy topic to try and get sentimental crap out. Well they dont give you time to plan out your essay or your arguement. You just start writing. Now for this year they told us that all they know about the essay is that longer is better. They also told us that nobody has a minimum score for the SAT writing.
What would have been a better measure would have been AP Language scores or AP Lit scores. With those you're actually given a decent amount of time and get to plan your essay.
Those features are all only new to Windows. Most of these "New Features" that bill wants money for are so that his OS will actually work with established standards, and it will replicate tried and tested methods of computer use. Vista's features also seem rather similar to the features that have been in OSX for years.
Also, given that microsoft tries to keep other people's software from being replaced with a version they've created, most of these features will probably be crippled and almost useless compared to functionality of included apps in OSX, and will certainly never rival the features that are available in the open source community.
I've had pretty good expeirence with voice systems too, I used TigerDirect's once and it worked ok, and they're faster than doing a menu system, you no longer have to listen to everyone else's options before yours comes up. And It may also be the fact that so many people hate the touch tone systems, so much that they're ingrained in popular culture. Really I think a lot of people see them as the lesser of two evils.
No, but PhDs cost tons of money and are prohibitively expensive to persue without having worked first. Students also often need a job to pay off the debts they accrue from their BS too. People also sometimes like to have money to spend on things like real food, and living space.
In space, nobody can hear you scream... Dah dun, dah dun, dah dun dah dun dahdun...
This is the part of the movie that the NSA jumps out of your closet with a scythe.
Not to mention that at least the NASA employees at Goddard Space Flight Center seem to lean toward the hippie side of things. Honestly I've yet to meet a military type that works at NASA GSFC. Plus, NASA has less control over the administration's policies than most large corporations, why not attack them? I'm sure large corporations also have as easy of targets as NASA.
Don't take everything Amy Goodman says at face value either. As liberal as I am, she sometimes has bad or hypocritical ideas, but they may be her own method of forcing people to listen to both sides of the story.
Unreal Tournament always had huge bulking guys, while the female avatars were the size of their forearm. Less to aim at (even if where you hit wasn't entirely based off of what was on the screen) the more you'll try and fail to shoot at the person.
I can see how this might also apply for other games, but I cant see the people playing MMORPGs giving free stuff to "girls", that just seems very 4th grade to me.
As much as you repeat that devices cannoy give nor deny permission, this does not change the fact that the device does give permission and it is the fault of the user to not understand the devices they have. This was not a problem years ago when if you wanted no trespassers you put up a sign, now the welcome mat and the no trespassing sign are digital and inside the same box that the person neglected to read the manual of. But even if the device itself doesn't give permission, when someone lays out the welcome mat, that doesn't mean no trespassing.
I think the poster is looking for a more normal 50 inches of real estate, probably something closer to 16:9, probably not 240:9. Though going multiple with large format LCDs might be interesting, say 2x40" LCDs? That would be one way to alleviate the size complaints.
This car is electric, its not meant for distance driving, its meant for commuter travel, and it goes 0-60 in 3 seconds for the fun of it. This car is for people that like to go fast compared to the speed limit, and like the fact that the car is electric. Electric cars aren't exactly ready for the big time, but investing in them now is the only way they'll ever get ready for the big time. The more we coach this technology along the closer we'll come to having a complete green energy grid.
The difference is that before FTP and downloading in general was for files that took under an hour to complete. BitTorrent is different in this respect because the majority of files using it as a distribution method are extremely large, that is the primary benefit of BitTorrent. So the real question is, does the user want their browser downloading a file for 3 days? And previously, files were not to then be uploaded for others, is a user really going to keep a file around and running for others if its built into the browser in the same way as a HTTP download?
Personally I see the benefit of FTP and Multiple downloads in browsers, but only for small files, if im going to download an ISO I want to use another program that doesnt have the window turnover of a browser.
Now i must confess that i dont manage huge networks, and im going out on a limb. At the two universities i've been to, both manage their ports and wireless together with either having a certificate on the computer (not sure which method that is) and also by doing temporary access with a user/pass combo tied to all the other services. Im not sure which technologies they're using but its entirely seamless and extremely easy since if you're supposed to be there you already have the id, and if you're always there it only takes a few minutes to get the certificate. This really dosent create a headache like another user was complaining about.
And thats why we live in a police state.

The man said we couldn't.

I tried XP 64 too. Nothing worked. Nothing was x64. I tried an Intel mac. Everything worked. Even what was PPC.
