I'm with you, I can go back and forth with hardly any problems.
As an aside... I don't know any emacs users who don't know how to use vi proficiently. Conversely, I don't know any vi users who do know how to use emacs proficiently.
I have my own theories on why, I'll let the reader draw their own.
Plus, you'll find the most unix applications understand emacs cursor control keys. It wasn't until a recent release of Firefox that ctrl-e didn't go to the end of the line.
But, no matter what, the arrow keys work almost univerally nowadays.
I have a Linksys WAP11 ver. 2 that was purposely crippled by the manufacturer to work only with another WAP11. It wouldn't even work with my Linksys BEFW11S4. Until I blew the DLink DWL-900+ firmware into it, now it kicks ass.
I love the fact that the very next posting after this one starts with "To preface, I am a CCIE, so I know a little about these things."
To the CCIE's defense, he gave a balanced and reasoned opinion that was not rife with Cisco jargon.
I, on the other had, find it interesting to talk to university educated CS majors (I graduated with a BA in Math, but have worked as an SA and programmer for 17 years) who use lingo (especially pattern nomenclature) and discuss concepts (stateless session beans, oooooooooh) on a level that makes it clear that they a) have never written code in the real world and b) don't have a clue about the mechanics of how things actually work (what do you mean I can telnet to an SMTP port and send mail)?
I get my digital phone service from Comcast. It's DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification). It's cable to the demark and then a normal, power backed up phone line into the house.
BFD. You single out words that you think make a point, just like our liberal media. To put it in an unbiased light why don't you construct a histogram of all words used in these speeches and compare the frequency of these buzz words to the sum total. How many times did he use the terms "reform" or "senate" or "future"?
I know this is a little off topic, but it's a pet peeve.
Pechman said she was sentencing him at the low end of the range because although he was 18 at the time of the attack, his maturity level was much younger than that.
So, this guy is determined not to have the facilities of a grownup, but there's a 9 year old kid in Denver killed his little brother and is being tried as an adult.
Okay, sure it was a horrible, horrible thing, but he's NINE YEARS OLD. Just because the crime is bad doesn't mean he somehow had the facilities to understand the implications of his actions.
Right, the public which have been overcharged for their software are clearly not intelligent enough to decide what to do with money they would have saved by not buying crappy monopolistic software. Bill should decide for them.
That's exactly why I want the government to tax me higher, because I couldn't possibly be trusted to properly invest for my retirement or donate to charities of my choice. I'd just stupidly give it to the dying people in Africa or Indonesia, then what would the urban welfare kids use to buy their Nikes and Ludakris albums?
Bill is worth about 50 billion. Let's say he needs a billion dollars per year to live on (hey, a guy has to eat, right), that leaves 49, so 750 million represents 1.53% of his disposable wealth.
I've got about $1500 in the bank, after living expenses I have about $8,500 a year to do with what I will. So the $250 I gave for Tsunami relief represents 2.5% of my discretionary income.
So I have a dual homed laptop that is doing nothing but NAT, port filtering and routing using IPTables under linux. Is that a hardware or a software firewall?
There you go over-estimating the intelligence of slashdot readers, you insensitive clod!

We know emacs is hard... you'd better just stick to something simple and leave the heavy lifting to us. Have you tried Pico?
I found a way to get huge performance increases out of my Saturn for only 5 dollars.
I take this $5 towstrap and attach it to the back of this Viper... suddenly my 0-60 times are are cut in half and my mileage is through the roof!
Thanks, Slashdot.
I'm with you, Brother.

I don't buy Linksys any more, they suck.

Switch the word "winkydink" with "dumbass".
Google is not preventing you from using another search site.

Yeah, good job proofreading.
That's pretty untrue. Linux is as good a platform, if not better to write games for. The difference is market share, and that is all.

Our legal system is fuqued up.

Let's do some math...
So, I'm twice as generous as Bill Gates. Nice.
So I have a dual homed laptop that is doing nothing but NAT, port filtering and routing using IPTables under linux. Is that a hardware or a software firewall?
That's still a ridiculous question. I don't know the page number because I don't have to refer to it any more.

Nope.
Mine was always after a marathon session of Tempest in the bowling alley, I'd blink and see fuseballs in my peripheral vision.
