Faking a demo isn't really a problem at all. You just have to be smart enough NOT TO GET CAUGHT. I've faked dozens of demos in my lifetime (and, yes, I still sleep okay).

But, then, I'm female and we're used to faking it realistically.

Having worked for some very high tech companies where the employees would hardly fit the classification of illiterate or ignorant, I don' think your comment is on the mark. In fact, I would say it is f&*#ing ignorant.

Books and Newspapers are written by people who are supposed to be good at communications, but often the articles are confusing, misleading, uninformed, biased or just plain wrong.

The truth is that people are doing the communicating and people are flawed. I believe emails can have all of the flaws of people, just amplified because they believe email to be an informal communication. Coupled with the reasons mentioned in RFA, emails are certainly misunderstood, but not necessarily more so than say a letter.

Maybe if someone would CLEARLY delineate the specific problems this protocol is meant to address and then explain exactly what the benefit is, instead of just doing a lot of comparisons without a benefit analysis, non-geeks like myself could get the gist of what they're trying to say.

Disclaimer: I'm not a geek, but some of my best friends (and relatives) are.

3554 Amun is an small metalic asteroid that crosses Earth's pass (not on collission course) and contains over 20 trillion US dollars worth of precious metal. It is a great fact to know when trying to explain to flat-earth types that don't understand why we waste money on space travel. We should continue exploration not only for the monetary return on investment (ROI), but rather BECAUSE IT'S THERE!

It really isn't as simple as that. Having spent 20 years in the industry (until I burned out, not just with a spark, but with a spectacular flame), one must really take into account the entire industry. Not just that of the dot.coms, but the whole telecommunications industry. There is no room, in the governments' minds (Sorry, Bill - your administration, too) for those who would change the status quo. Whether it's Google or SBC or whomever, the administrations all seem to back the big names. Safer? Maybe. More lucrative? (on the side of course) Certainly. Don't expect fairness. Expect to get screwed and you won't be disappointed. Singed, Been there, done that, need the vaseline 'cause I've been screwed...

So I took all of my photos and scanned them (if they were not already digital). Then I backed them up onto CDs. Then I had my brother back them up on his RAID server. Of course I also had the printed copies and copies on my hard drive. One worm destroyed my hard drive. One house fire destroyed my CDs and printed copies. Then I found out my brother had destroyed his RAID array by upgrading incorrectly. My thinks think she's adopted because I have no pictures of her as a small child! Bottom Line? No solution is infallible.
