    I dunno, seems like an ideal opportunity for a very thinly veiled bit of agenda pushing in support or opposition of the movement to legalise marijuana and other recreational drugs to me...

    I am no expert but there are a multitude of other fantasy series that have a lot of books and followers. Why not make those into a series?

    Because, unfortunately, Rowan Atkinson is just a little too old to play Cugel the Clever, although Ian Holm would be perfect to play Iucounu.

    I would like to see fewer announcements about AI based on other peoples' wild claims about AI's future, and more based on actual achievements. I know it can be difficult to quantify an "achievement" in this field, but, wow, the sheer volume of woo, fairy dust and unicorn farts we're getting is incredible . It's like taking the CGI in skin care advertisements seriously, and believing that we already have functioning nanotech.

    The problem is not finding something unique about someone. That is not the only purpose of authentication. The purpose is to prevent third parties from faking it.

    I just wish they'd stop basing these systems on body parts that can easily be removed. It's like they're encouraging people with bolt cutters.

    They don't have to win constantly to turn a profit. Those things you mentioned happened rarely, and all the bots need is a 60 to 70% win rate. Winning more than you lose is the only way forward.

    Yeah, and when that level of winning pans out and they get greedier, they pay for the development of AI that understands a little more about the real world. And when THAT pans out and they get even greedier, they'll okay the development of AI that actively interferes in the real world to produce situations that profit can be made from.

    Then it'll be too late.
