    Anyone know the date the patent was filed? Rusty n Edie's BBS was around and being sued in 1997 for having online images which they were selling.

    When did the British become more uptight about sex than the USA?

    We brits have always been a bunch of prudes.. or at least those who make the laws seem to think they are (when they're not involved in sex scandals).

    Our adult channels are basically breasts and dry humping. As the comment below me states.. we think a topless woman is porn.

    Their rationale is that if ISPs have managed to block all child porn.....

    They have? I know they blocked wikipedo a while back for an album cover but are they really claiming to have successfully blocked all child porn?

    How long until actors start selling their voice & likeness at different ages? Of course the MPAA will lobby to extend copyright even longer.

    Stallone aged 35.. that'll be $12million.

    In a cost saving exercise Sony noticed that controllers had more buttons than needed. New controllers will only feature one directional button. To use it press the button and point the controller in the direction you want to move.

    MS will never acknowledge anything except that IE9 is better/faster/safer/blingier than the other browsers.

    The point is that with IE9, all of the major browsers aren't that bad really.
    Thats the way it should be. Your choice in browser shouldn't matter.

    I'm a luddite because my phone does everything I need it to do (work as a phone)?
    When I want a camera I use a camera. When I need internet access I use a PC.
    I have nothing against technology, I just dont see the point in paying for something
    I wont use.

    It would be especially good if all the apps were thoroughly tested. With all the stories lately about Android apps
    grabbing/using personal data it might be nice to have an app store where they tell you exactly what data it uses.
    Even things like how much processor & memory it uses while active would be useful info. Or how well it runs on
    different screen sizes. I have no idea if any of the stores already do this as my 11 year old nokia phone doesnt
    have apps.

    is that still a viable solution?

    I'm guessing this isn't really about getting a better image format. That is just a stepping stone to their real goal.
    It shouldn't be too hard to get it put into a chip (for cameras, portable devices & media players). Once that is done
    those devices should (with little modification) be able to use WebM video files too.

    I try not to read reviews as these days they're little more than advertising funded press releases.

    A few questions...

    Is it actually any good? The video I saw of some gameplay made it look like a console game designed
    for the lowest common denominator. I understand them wanting to improve graphics and change it to appeal
    to non-civ fans but I'd be happy with a Civ4 that didnt run constantly out of memory.

    Can you still zoom out to see more than 4 blocks away?

    It'll also stop the monitor on my other PC flashing every time I switch inputs on this monitor
    as the HDCP syncs up.

    Open does mean incompetent. Microsoft are trying to hide that by keeping it closed.
    I'd rather trust the people saying 'its not perfect so help us make it better'
    than the ones saying 'we make perfect software' and being proved wrong time after time.

    Most of the public wont hear about it. The companies that lobbied to get this Act passed are
    very closely connected to the companies that show most of the people their news & current events.
    Filesharing in the media is almost always shown in a bad way and they never mention it's legal uses.
