That is why I have a Win 7 partition for those rare occasions I need something Windows only. Made the switch in 2009 to Linux and all the "everyday" tasks I did in Windows I can do with ease in Linux, usually better. Maybe it is time to move on to a multi-OS world and leave the mind state of one OS is all I can use or have to use. Also there is so many FOSS counterparts to Windows software that even the excuse can't really cut it anymore. I honestly only have Win 7 for Stardew Valley and BlackBerry Link. Soon SDV will be cross platform so even less time will be spent in Windows.

I much prefer the features of Android to the point that I wouldn't consider an iPhone. iOS is an inferior product for functionality (specifically, customizability of the user interface) and it doesn't play well with non-Apple software and has excessively restrictive controls on what the user can do with their device. I have other issues with Google (their data use policies). There's room in my mind and wallet for a new player with better for the customer data use policies and an Android-like feature set.

I can also install more privacy and ad blocking related extensions when I use Firefox. These are the main reasons why I use Firefox. There are others, more stable, less headaches from end users, etc. Browsers aside, the real problem is Flash. It really needs to die. Security risks up the wazoo, memory leaks galore, and made the web a shit filled advertisted and prostituted out pop up freak fest. Flash fuck you. Adobe you ruined the web.

The country is already divided pretty equally down the middle. Religious zealots want pro life, guns, war, and no Gubberment. Non religious sensible folk want universal health care, no war, no class warfare, etc. Basically you can choose to progress to the future or regress to a cave, depending on which side you choose.
Send all the uneducated religious people south of the Dixie line, us educated, non secular folk go north. Give it 15 years and see how each side turned out.

Keep the Qwerty, more battery life and security hype, and hammer it home that App World has just as many app's as any other App store out there (Take away the 1000's of duplicates and you have about 33,000 unique apps, about the same as BB App World.)

Currently in college finishing off degree, and had to take an office 2007 class, also use word and excel several times a week for school related projects.
I prefer using LibreOffice but Microsoft just does Office so well, its like if all you do is spreadsheats and word processing than Microsoft Office is where it is at. Luckily VirtualBox saves the day and allows me to stay in a comfortable work environment and still use those silly Microsoft softwares.
Not seen any studies, I have seen end users machines I work on ask for office 2003 to be installed because they don't want the ribbon, I have heard from teachers and classmates in and out of the class who have a great distaste for the ribbon, I have also heard my mother nag at me because of the ribbon when I installed Office 2007 on her laptop.
Not saying NO ONE likes it, just haven't found anyone who does...
I started on Win 95a, I actually liked ME, however 2K was much more superb. Nothing against learning something new, I use Gnome or KDE now. It is more of a usability standpoint, not sure why companies think less control of what we use is better. Ribbon is just sloppy the original menu bar works just fine and allows you to accomplish many things in a timely fashion.
I don't want to have to hunt through tabs and list boxes just to bold something, just like I don't want to hunt through tiles to find my desktop to hit the start button to navigate through the horrible Windows 7 start bar just to launch a program that doesn't have a tile.
This wont affect my home life, or my personal computer, it will affect end users which I support, and will influence my future headaches.
Why must Microsoft add another memory hogging service I must disable before I have a workable environment? Metro is neat for grandma and mom, but for professionals or the enterprise it will be just another useless service hogging down precious resources and raising TCO.
