With the peaches and a standard household gene splicing kit, one could turn the peach DNA into marijuana DNA, there by selling drugs and funding terrorism, child porn, world hunger, and opression in the non-free world.
Well, I did some quick (and cheap) work with some cotton string, and I've (securely) strung the drives in 5 3/4" bays They're down to about 50C each, and I have the bay cover above them off to let the hot air exit the case.
Not ony did it cool the drives down, but it also cut down on noise.
My Samsung 300GB Drives (in Redundant raid mode) hit 70C at some times (like a simple NTFS defrag)... hot enough to cook an egg. So can these 500GB drives make toast if I slide some bread in the 3.5" bay between them?
Now I just need a watercooling kit to make my coffee in...
Lucky You. I may be in the coverage area for a 6MBit/384Kbit DSL Line... if I'm lucky. The cable modem sevice around here is disgustingly unreliable, so I'm pretty much stuck with DSL. Windstream's Acceptable Use Policy nor their terms and conditions say anything about maximim data transfer. Which is good, because I'm big into the bittorrent.
Because there are better things to be doing... like posting on slashdot or talking with complete strangers online... or posting on slashdot to complete strangers.

How about DVD9 + $CODEC? It's cheap, proven, and already availible on the market. Not to mention, improvements could be made with code updates to players.
1) Buy Bunches of Dual Layer DVDs, 8-ProcessorMotherbord and 8 Dual-core processors (And other stuff) 2) Restore Movies from Film onto RAW avi in 1080p 3) Transcode into $CODEC 4) Burn transcoded video to Disk as Data 5) Build DVD player with HDMI port 6) ??? 7) PROFIT!
I think the shuttle program should be scrapped, the ISS completed with Japanese and Russian spacecraft, and our engineers should spend some time around Baikonur, and the First re-launch (around 2015) of a US craft should be to set up basic life support for a manned mission to mars.
A little voice inside my head is hinting that the NK Missile runs Windows ME. Assumming that's correct, we all know that North Korea poses no threat... just need to plug in a scanner.
That same little voice is telling me that ours run Linux.
With PB of storage redundancy will be needed. maybe you could try to make your own version of Google's distributed redundant FS and run it on a bunch of cheap machines? (like google does)
Strike that subject, it should read "Take a chapter from Google's book..."
Good luck, plz write to/. again... I wanna see how this turns out.

P.S. I very rarely say "I wanna see how this turns out"... so write again, damnit!
I did the exact same thing... The Iranians got to it and used it for porn. I'm now on many NSA Lists. It's free speech, so as long as you're not browsing porn at school, I see no problem -legal or moral- with running a proxy. Then again... my school had a nazi-style filter. Have Fun. Have you heard of TorPark

I think there should be some sort of regulation here... maybe there is, I don't know... This sounds like false advertising to me. Imagine if $CARCOMPANY put the little asterisks in their commercials...
Announcer: "The $CAR received the highest safety rating from an independant board.**" Legal announcer: "** safety features may not be available in all individual vehicles. safety may depend on several factors including but not limited to road congestion, what we had for lunch, if we ran out of glue, what type of gas you use, or comments on slashdot. Flaming metal deathtrap is not a valid reason to return a $CAR."

Thanks for the info... I think I'll just have them out of the case until I can get my hands on a fan.

Maybe the Next will be Microsoft U-ROT. Unix Realtime Operating System.
The question is... would Microsoft corrupt Unix, or would Unix corrupt Microsoft?
See Systm Episode 6: Maker Faire.

any advice for the yungens? State stores ask for ID now.
"The obvious solution: encrypt everything that hits the disk, keep the key in RAM, and overwrite the key when needed."
0 1
You'd need to keep a lot of encrypted garbage data on the drive for that to work.
0101110101001010011010100101000100101100101001001
find the ASCII Charachter. The rest is random garbage data I typed in by pounding on the number pad.
1) Download Bittorrent
2) Download Shed Skin
3) ???
4) Profit!
Thats Great News!
Too bad I'm never gonna buy vista.
