I think you might get further by not calling those that want simplicity "retards." There's something to be said about Gnome's simple interface. It's easy to use and it rarely ever gets in the way. There are many times I wish I could change such-and-such setting that is possible in KDE, but when it's set, I don't want to be confronted with it anymore.
Also, I wouldn't say "user", "advanced" and "expert." I'd call them "streamlined", "moderate", and "complex" configurations. People want to consider themselves "advanced" or "expert" but that doesn't preclude them to wanting a cluttered interface.
As I use Linux (Debian) more and more, I don't find myself wanting more buttons on the screen. I actually find I want some of them to go away because "I already set that" or "I don't want to change that every day." I wouldn't consider myself a "user", but I prefer a little streamlining. So far Gnome has been good for that.
Except I still can't get Silverlight to work properly on my Debian Box, so Microsoft hasn't done shit to make a better product. Some guy named Miguel has been trying to make a clone, but he clearly doesn't have the access nor resources to properly implement it.
On the other hand, Adobe has already set me up with a 99.9999% compatible cross platform version of their player.
Ah yes, the inviolate "it works for ME!" argument.
That argument works both ways. In this case, there is a person complaining about it crashing while hundreds, thousands, or millions of others have no issue.
Because MPEG4 and H264 encoded files can easily be copied and replayed. The broadcaster loses control over when and how much it's played. With Flash, they can at least obfuscate he downloaded file from the user so it's not easily replicated.
IF (LEFT(@@VERSION, 13) = 'Microsoft SQL') BEGIN SELECT LOL.Taunt FROM Taunts LOL END
(Disclaimer: That's the quickest/simple thing I could come up with...without wasting a bunch of time. Sorry if it doesn't meet the high quality of standards for ridicule that you were expecting. I also realize that probably doesn't work in Oracle...)
And take away a generally standard and open transportation solution (cars, roads) with a monopolized and closed loop system that is a railroad? When they can lay down 4 rails with 4 separate companies all competing for comfort, speed, and reliability for my money then I'll bite.
Last time I rode on a train in Chicago, it was full of bums, uncomfortable plastic seats and it smelled of ass. I refuse to pay taxes for a run down half ass train system and if high speed rail is going the route of the nations subways... I don't think I'd enjoy sitting on a plastic seat for two hours to get anywhere.
I would like to see Linux expand it's market just as much as the next nerd here... but there's one thing I've learned. "Linux" isn't some artificial intelligence trying to "beat" anything. It's an alternative operating system trying to do it's best at what it does. "Competing" against Microsoft is probably the worse thing it can do. Time will only work in FOSS' advantage.
I kind of hoped that 4e was going to embrace the Internet and allow people to create tools for it... I was trying to have high hopes for the future of D&D, but now I wish I could get a refund for my rulebooks.
I'm still trying to figure out how and where they are launching the Moon... ;)

I think you just slashdotted neowin.net... :p
I just hate everyone. It makes everything much easier.
That's not how they see it though...
My new Sharp LCD has a *nix kernel:

This is Joe's third cousin twice removed.
Sure it is. Just make sure you tell them to insert their credit cards into the slots in the back of the TV to pay for it as well.

I thought all those fields were full of Flashers instead of beans... at least the front-end. ;)

Thank you for pointing that out. Chicago's "mass transit" system is NOT the system I'd like to see implemented.

Funny, but I'm still waiting for four generations to be named 127, 0, 0 Jr, and 1.
For "The Fun Guy" you don't come off as being very much fun.
It's almost funny. Linux can't beat microsoft.

Wireless is always synonymous with bad pings though...
I'd drop my Insight(RR) for U-verse the day I got that letter of caps, but U-Verse is well known for relatively bad pings compared to cable.
Throughput isn't everything.
You could always hang out at http://www.neowin.net/ if you don't like it. ;)
Oh come on.. it's a real knee slapper!
A more direct route. ;)
